The fact that everything broke on that thing is what makes me dislike Ford, not the fact that they put out a Mustang with a four banger. Not just mechanical engine stuff failed either, both door handles, both front seats, horn, cruise, radio, console lid, you know, just the basics you use every day. I could also write a book about what went wrong under the hood, but I don't have that kind of time.

I traded in my 01 Jagaur S-Type for my 05 xB. My grandfather gave me the Jag after it was a year old. It only had 20,000 miles on it when I traded it and was paid for when he bought it. About 2 months before I traded it the tranny on the jag went out but it was still under warranty for only a few more months. Jaguar fixed it and I figured then I needed to get rid of it now and get something for it before the tranny went out again and I would have to pay for a Jaguar transmission. My Scion dealer would'nt take a trade-in. He said it wasn't part of the pure pricing feature of Scion. I'm thinking it was more because it was a 93 colt vista with high miles. I even had a hard time donating it. The 5th place I called (outta CA) sent someone from Harrisburg to get it in MD. Had it been a 94, there wouldn't have been a problem donating it at all. I ended up with my box tagged and titled, at 4.4%, putting 3200 down, so I could pay under 2 and a quarter a month.

Finally was able to get outta my 04' Mazda3 "s" 5-door. What a piece of "crap". Back when I bought it, it was between it and the Xb. In 11months, that Mazda was in the shop "14" times and for something different everytime. Trouble Spots were.....
14 interior rattles from the dashboard, all the windows, door panels, passenger seat, rear hatch, rear cargo area, headliner, sunroof and ventilation system.
Mechanically I had to take it in for,
replacement of 3 window regualtors
entire replacement of rear brakes
entire replacement of rear shocks/springs
entire replacement of hydraulics on the clutch
replaced clutch switch
replaced drive shaft bolts (they fell off)
weak a/c
front suspension fixes (never got fixed)
rear hatch struts failed
power steering acting like it was "manual" and not power
All of this in just over 12,000 miles
Good riddance to that one and "all" of Mazda forever for me.

Sold my '00 Contour SVT.
Many mods, lots of power, handled like nobody's business.
Also didn't like to start when it was cold (are '00 models supposed to do that? ) , had some fuel pump issues, some bucking issues, and the master cylinder deteriorated about 1 mile from the interstate.
I counted my blessings, fixed all the problems, counted my blessings again, and sold the car.
I couldn't be happier. :)

Well I had a 1991 Honda Accord 4 door sedan that was freshly painted w/ 1 piece headlights & ready for a motor swap, when i lended the car to a friend to buy supplies for our shop & some idiot was trying to pick up his cell phone in the rain & ran a red light. The car was totaled, so i needed a new car & the rest is history.
Im selling this for a down payment. It is an '83 Rabbit L with 80,000 miles on it... yea thats right 80k.
-4spd (3 with over drive) manual
-no air
-no ps
-only am/fm radio
-all stock except for wheels (they came from my '90 Jetta)
I will miss the sunroof. To me the xB will be Luxury.

I traded in a '91 Toyota Previa DX. Nice car. It would have been funnier to trade in my old Toyota Van for a Box. Hah. You go from a wedge to a box :)
I got ripped off on the trade-in of course, but the car was my college graduation gift kind of, from my dad, so technically it was 100% profit on my part. Now I have an xB! :)

Well, due to a growing family, I have one daughter and 2 step children, I had to trade in my 1996 Mitusubishi Spyder GST for my 2005 Scion Xb on July 3, '04. Though I miss my convertible, times have changed, I'm no longer the single chick on the block, I'm engaged, with a 16 month old daughter and two stepkids.
The Scion is the best purchase we have made, there is no comparison to the price, gas mileage, space and style. I would rather drive a box than a minivan or an suv.

I traded a 1993 300zx twin turbo. Over the years I had it modded up to SGP stage V. It was getting to be an older car, and I had grown tired of something always needing to be fixxed. It was a fun car, but with the price of gas and cost to keep it running was too much.
I picked my 2005 Camo xB up Friday night. Hopefully getting it tinted today, and an alarm at the end of the week. Once my wheels are in, I think I'm set.

Traded my 02' Nissan Sentra SER spec-v along with my husbands 99' Dakota R/T for a Hemi Quad cab Ram. I went carless until I fell in Love with the XB. Just wish I could've bought the RS-1 I test drove but by the time I could buy it they were gone.
Also had a 01' Ford Focus zx-3 for 1 year (JUNK) 97' Neon R/T , 96' Mustang GT ( should have learned the lesson not to by another Ford) , 89' Shelby Dakota, 1992 Dodge Spirit R/T, 85' Omni GLH Turbo, 88' Dodge Shadow ES Turbo, 79' Camaro with a Big block Pontiac Motor (don't ask) and my first car ----Wait for it------ 78' Datsun B210 in pumpkin Orange!!!!!
Anyway we are Dodge fans and I wanted a SRT-4 but realized everybody would want to race me and I have a child in the car most of the time, so what is the fun in that.
Yes I have had a lot of cars, If I counted the Hubby's it would be a much longer list.

Sold a 95 Honda Civic 4 dr, 5 speed with 202,000 miles on the original clutch. AC dead and strange noises from the brakes and wheel hubs. It was about time I thought! Of course with $4-$5K it could have been saved but I'd still have a 10 year old car. The xB was the only reasonably priced vehicle with the room, economy, and standard features out there. If my wife wasn't 6'1" I'd been looking at the xA instead. Of course she wanted a SUV!

I sold my 1988 BMW 528e. It had just turned 200k miles the day before I sold it too! I got $2000 for it. It was just becoming a pain to keep up with the maintanence on it. It would have cost me about $6000 to fix all powertrain and body work needed on it. So I said "F it, I'm gettin an xB" and put an ad in the paper. It sold in 3 days! Im gonna miss that car though. Drove from St Louis to New york, Chicago, Atlanta and Miami in it.
I traded in a 2005 Focus ST loaded with everything but leather seats. The best thing I could have done. Im getting better milage now with the xB then I could only have dreamed about in the focus. My interior is much better, the fell of the car is even better. As for not having the 155 or so HP I had, I dont miss it. I have learned how to drive with the power the xB has. I will still love to take the xB up to the 1/8 track here. IT will be just for ____s & giggles. It could not have possibly been running right, unless you overloaded it going up hill at full throttle everywhere you drove it.
The 5.4L F-150 gets better than that, hell, a 7.3L powerstroke excursion does better than that (not by much, but still better)

The nice part about this ride was my sound system (spent all my money on it) i had a JVC cd-MP3 player, a jvc 12 disc changer (under seat) Lightning Audio Bolt coaxials in the front, and tri - 6x9 in the back with 2 12in California audio Baja Subs powered by a 900 watt Rockford Fosgate Amp. in a Q-Logic box that was the same size as the trunk space. oh, and green neons and LEDs all up in my whip!
she was fun to drive, and surprisingly in great shape for a 92 (except for the faded plastics) sold her to a friend from work for 2000 bux. (i bought her for $25, and rebuilt the engine for about 500 bux) good return on my part, and no i didn't screw my friend, the car is worth about 3 G's on Guam.

I regret it though, I built that car from the ground up, I bought it as a bare shell no interior nothing. It was fast and I miss it.

I traded my 2001 Nissan Frontier crew cab last summer for my 2005 xB and haven't looked back. Hey, I'm laughing all the way to the gas pump! And when the wheels fall off my Scion, I'll buy another!!
I'm new here...first post today...and posting as tonkatrucker (a nod to my mom's name for my little box!)
2000 Ford Ranger 3 ltr
Was getting 18 mpg mostly. ON a good day , no tail gate, hwy, could break 20.
I loved my truck.. yes indeed.. but the flippin gas thing was way out of hand.
Got my 2004 Xb and am very happy with it.. so far averaging 30-34.
If I need a truck, the wife has a 2000 Ford Explorer Sporttrac, 4ltr.. it gets about 22 city 25 hwy....

Im not too thrilled about selling my .:R32 but i think its time, this car is just becoming way too expensive right now. Im not sure how many people know about this car but buying an Xb is a downgrade for me, but you really cant complain with the price of an Xb. I hope I enjoy the "box" as much as everybody else in this forum.
Some facts about my VW Golf .:R32:
-240 hp
-AWD-All Wheel Drive
-AEM intake
I will sure miss her when i sell.

I'm selling a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant (Stick) and a 1998 Chevy S-10 4x4 (Auto) for my 06 Camo xB. Love mitsu's...that '95 is my third Galant....but i'm sick of not having warranties and all the creaking that comes with 130k+ mile cars.
Supposedly i shall have my xB next week....here's hoping...

I traded my 2002 VW Passat for my 2005 xB. VW: nice car, but the list of problems was long. The last straw was when it began to burn oil at 30,000 miles. That's what you get for 5 valves per cylinder. I had it in the shop 12x in 3 years. So much for German engineering.
Funny thing, I've now owned a car from each of the Axis powers, in the order they surrendered: Fiat 128SL, VW Passat, Scion xB.
i traded in a 2000 toy corolla with 62k miles, had eibach springs, 16" wheels, kumho tires, k&n filter..was a damn good car...5 yrs 62k miles and not ONE problem...ever
i say this all the time but i love my xB!!!

For my wife's 2004 BSP xB, I traded in our 1996 Isuzu Trooper, and with gas prices as out of control as they've been, I don't miss it at all!!! The one thing I do miss - Being able to load big stuff when I make a run to Lowe's.
Ten weeks later, and for my 2005 TCM xB, I traded our 1993 Mercedes 190E. . . yes, a Benz for a Box!!! It was twelve years old with GREAT mileage, but it was starting eat money for repairs like a Sumo wrestler at an all-you-can-eat buffet! At the rate it was going, I would still be kicking myself in the @$$ for keeping it!!! The one thing I do miss - The sunroof.

I noticed most traded there allready small cars for another small car, interesting. I guess i'm part of a minority then that sold my muched beautiful, loved and enjoyed 2000 Ford Expidition. The xb much smaller way less power but much more sensible in the long run, cheaper to maintain and TOYOTA quality so far :P still miss the exp's ability to go anywhere was only limited by parking structure overhead clearance...everything had to be at least 6'7" overhead. Oh well heres to many future years of Scion :D

C32 AMG for the Box...small car for a BIG car.
I grew to hate that MB. Should have known to stick with Toyota after my wife's Sienna hasn't had any issues for 7 years and my MB was in the shop for all kinds of stupid stuff, i.e., losing the inner fender-well lining while driving down the road (how stupid is that?)
Hurricane Katrina took my 05 explorer sport trac.... a tree crushed the entire cab, taking about 5k in electronics... was able to save my wheels... im 10x's happier with my xb, pics are posted on the forum subject is my 06 tcm *tell me what u think*

I just sold off my 1992 Geo Prizm. God, I loved that car. It may not have looked like much but, aside from just normal wear and tear things that will break down on every car from time to time, I never had a day's problem with it.
I drove that car hard and it never let me down. I was really sad to see it go but, with our first baby on the way, my wife and I just needed something a little newer and with more cargo room and the XB fit the bill.
Besides, since I couldn't get a sports car, the XB was about as fun a car as I could get and still justify as being "family friendly."
