I was reading Car and Driver while at work today. I saw an interesting tid bit. Its illegal to have a front splitter for road use. The guy asked if it was a federal or state law. I havent seen anyone in TX with a front splitter... either that or I havent really paid attention so I cant tell from just that. Anyone ever get stopped for that?

 

There is absolutely nothing in the California Vehicle Code that mentions splitters or any other pieces of aero. Saying a splitter is illegal is like saying a spoiler or wing is illegal.

And if it's legal here, I can't see them being outlawed anywhere else.

Edit: now that I think about it, they're not permitted in certain racing classes.

 

They can have my splitter when they pry it from my cold dead hands.

 

Well, Car and Driver spat out a code mentioning something about bumper heigth and crash rating since it protrudes out the front.

 

that's odd but, really how many people actually have a spittler that you see out on the road. pretty much no one.
