Default Shifting Problems

I drive 07 Scion Tc 5 speed and i started getting problems with shifting at redline .
The problem is when i shift at 6200 real fast , like when im racing or something the car loses power for couple seconds and than it starts pulling, its like the clutch dosent engage right or some kind of fuel problem or something, and its not like i cant drive manual car , im not new to this i had 4 cars all manual never had this problem before. Please Help[/b]

i have tsudo headers and exhaust evrything else stock i have only 20k miles almost new , well it does it in all of em if i shift real fast like racing on track or highway, well losing power i mean like when i m at 6200 rpm hit the clutch to change gear and switch it and release the clutch it slows down like , it dosent pull at all, its like i mised the gear but than it starts to pull fine.

please do not race because it is a waste of gas and time on something pointless. as far you feeling the car losing power, it is because the 07+ models have fuel cut-off and it drops you rpm for like a second when you hit reline and then picks up. just try shifting before redline and you'll fine.

Sounds like you're hitting the fuel cutoff. Don't trust your tach to that level of accuracy. I've used the SG2 as a tattletale at the track, and shown that I've hit 6350 (and cutoff) when I thought I was shifting before redline. Now, I generally push the clutch just as the needle passes the 6k mark.

theres no way i hit the rev limiter well 2 days ago from first to second i shifted at 5k real fast messing around and it happend, thats way to far from rev limiter, im thinking its a clutch problem but i duno what u guys think, btw this only happens if i let the clutch go real fast when shifting but if i let the clutch pedal go just lil bit slower its fine nothing happens

You guys don't get the bounce off of the limiter? I did not know that.

Poor tC, if you rev that high often, it wont make it to 100K

Yeah, we got the fuel cutoff at redline on 07's and later.... and the motor just drops power, it doesn't bounce off the redline unfortunately...

If it's also happening when you're dropping the clutch before redline, perhaps it could be your synchros trying to catch up with your rapid shifting...

you need to realize that your wasting time and not gaining anymore hp going all the way to rev limiter rpms.... you should shift at like 5500-5700 at the most... my car did this once... i was testing out some new tires and took off in first hard, hit sand and hit the limiter, so yea fuel cutoff but i would have to say that your probably not engaging the clutch all the way before your hitting that shift... slow it down a bit

I would think fuel/ignition problem before tranny problem.

there's pretty much nothing wrong with the car... and there sure wasn't anything wrong with it when you bought it..

so.. if it doesn't suit your needs...

remember folks.. tCs are NOT sports cars
