Default Boost source for wastegate

I just purchased and installed a Garrett 50 trim to replace my Turbonetics turbo that blew the seals. On the new turbo, there is no boost nipple on the compressor. Is there another place that would be safe to tap into for the line to the wastgate?

So the line from the TB to the BOV can be tapped into?

all vac lines are coming from the same source, the intake manifold. once in boost, you pressurize the manifold, which in turn pressurizes the vac lines. they all give the same reading.

Nice, I was confused. I thought the compressor line showed higher boost due to the pressure loss through the intercooler.

It will read slightly higher off of the compressor housing due to the fact that it does not take into account of IC drag and piping drag.

yeah compressor will be a lil higher but the intake manifold source or the TB would be a very good source since its the amount of pressure going to the cylinder is what you really want to know

What modifications did you have to make to adapt the turbo to the kit?

^^^^^ Agreed

The stem coming off the TB is my main lead coming into the vacuum block.

Just a $20 2" silicone elbow and two new bolts for the drain line. It's a Garrett T3T04E with a 50 trim stage 3 and .63 A/R. It hits a little harder than the turbonetics and the spool up is basically the same even though it has a larger hot side. I've been driving it almost a week now and I'm pretty geeked about it.

I'm going to attempt to get it dyno tuned next week if the yahoos at GRD can get the unichip software to work this time. Judging from the Eugo, I am running a tad lean.

Buddy of mine got his tuned there. They had to first update the Unichip firmware in order to get it tuned. Let me know how it works out at GRD I would like to get a tune and wheel alignment there.

Yeah, I've talked to Ignatius about it several times. I have also been there three times now. They had problems with my Unichip not being able to erase the Turbonetics map. I have now purchased an extra used one so hopefully they can get one to work.
I honestly would never go there except for the fact that they have unichip tuning ability. I know that Tuan is a great tuner, but his business partners are clowns.

Update:
Ok, I hooked the wastgate up to the manifold vacuum and I am in fact getting about 1.5%PSI higher. Talk about an easy boost controller.
