Setting at the Best buy parking lot, waiting for the traffic light, when a clueless lady driving a Silverado decided she wasn't in her parking spot straight enough and decides to back up without looking.

From about a 2' foot away backs square into the passenger side doors at the joint between the doors. Right below the passenger door handle, and right on the body crease.

Silverado not a mark -Highly polished XB now sports two 3" long creases, one in each door -aaargh!

Cop says to me -why are you putting so much money in it -it's just a Toyota! Estimates the damage at $200!!!!!

My question -anyone have any experience touching up a Hot lava? Even better can someone offer a top notch bodyshop in the N. Florida (or Jacksonville), area that does the best work?

Insurance job -but will happily pay any difference to have it perfect again! Merry Christmas NOT!

TIA for anyones help!

$200??! What kind of bodywork can be done on anything for $200? Was the cops patrol car a Honda Element?, cause at least the plastic doesn't have to be repainted.

My condolences and welcome to the $1000 repair bill.

if its the lady's fault then her insurance pays for the damage
take it to different body shops for estimates
if a bodyshop does not satisfy your approval you can complain and get it fixed correctly.

if the estimate is 200$ it might be one of those Paintless repairs... which is not bad. you retain stock paint while they flatten any ding or dents from the inside of the door.

Cops aren't supposed to give car repair estimates. That's that job for an insurance adjuster.

he probably just said 200 so that he didnt have to write an accident report (usually required only if more than 500 or 750 in damages)oh and factory match paint is readily available.

Well a paint code is a paint code. I wouldnt matter if you car is bright freekn green, as long as the paint has a paint code- then they can match it- dont worry.

And BTW take your box to the most expensive body shop in town- after all your not paying for it!
