you can drive your car to canada all you want, you can't however REGISTER your car in canada if you were to become a canadian resident because it doesn't meet some recently passed legislation or whatever, only the 06 or 07 tc can be sold and registered in canada i think. so unbunch your panties. sheesh.

hey DRAX you can only register your car (tC) in Canada if its an 06-07? WOW! thanks pretty crazy...

Do you know what made them (Canada) change regulations on the 08-09's?

i don't remember it exactly, it was something to do with safety or emissions i think. it was weird, it was like...something the 05-06 didn't have, that toyota changed for 07, but then they passed a new law that said all 08 or newer model cars need this requirement or something, and the 08 didn't have it, so i think only the 07 scion tc can legally be registered in canada.

i think it was initially emissions, which is why the 07 was now legally allowed, since the engine had some minor changes and tweaks, then in 08 the laws changes, i think it was a safety equipment requirement or something, so thus thusly, the 08 model was ineligible for sale and registration in cananda.

it's the all glass roof i thought...

but either way, it's the inability to register it there, not to drive one there.

I Googled it and they were saying that it is the '05 to '06 years that can't be registered in Canada.

if that is their reasoning, then I think its due to the std airbags on the sides etc.

Well the '09s don't have DRL, just the little light in the high beam when you have your parking lights and/or lights on.

Totally correct. I was just in Toronto last month and stopped at the Toyota dealer downtown. I asked why there were no Scions on the highways and no Scion dealers and he told me that was the reason why. There are used Scions that he services, but only a handful and they all came from the States. But nothing stops you from driving around in the Country.

The tC's roof holds 4x the car's weight (~12000 pounds)... MUCH more than many other (registerable) vehicles on the market right now. How could it not pass roof crush standards?

Easy, check the sticker in the frame of the driver's door. I bought my 06 in July of 05, but its manufacturer date is May 05.
