Those are horrendous. Sure, beauty is in the eye of the beholder... but they are not attractive. At all.

The design is HORRIBLE. That small of an engagement surface for the key, and oh yeah... the hexed piece is made of aluminum. I'm sure you've all stripped out an allen bolt before-- now make it out of aluminum and try your luck.

Price + material + design = Triple Fail.

lol im pretty sure that Volk Racing doesnt make a low quality product, and im sure if anythign these are forged just like the duranuts which are stronger then your allen keys

Dr_Isotope
10-09-2008, 06:53 PM
So forged aluminum is now somehow stronger than chrome vanadium steel? I don't even have to doubt that, I know for an absolute fact that it's wrong. If those hideous things are on-par with the quality of the other duralumin nuts, they're... fair. But beyond that, they look like the caps off of fancy Crayola Markers.

davedavetC
10-09-2008, 07:14 PM
i'll be willing to bet taht Rays put a lot of R&D into these lugs so that the key wont break inside the lugs.... :eyebrow:

but hey im not putting a gun to your head and telling you to buy them.

Dr_Isotope
10-09-2008, 08:04 PM
Well, I can't say I'm 100% bias-free in this instance-- I had the RAYs duralumin short lugs on the car for about a year... until they faded to a lovely teal color, at which point I immediately took them off and replaced them with Project KICs. And I know I'm not alone in this one-- the red ones turn pink and the black ones a lovely dusky gray. That's a lot of money to spend on ____-poor annodization.

And did I mention those new RAYs are ghastly?

TCpete

guess whos NEW car those are goin on :lalala:

news flash you cannot use these on ur new car because your OEM wheels are not chonical.

lol

I might pick up some. These lug will make stealing my wheels next to impossible!

actually just pick up an allen key and slammit it in there and just spin the hat off.. then jab a 3/8" extender into the inner lock and spin away.. or u can also use ... well let me stop there..

Those are horrendous. Sure, beauty is in the eye of the beholder... but they are not attractive. At all.

all the steel is is made of a mixture of steel and duralium which is stronger then your average aluminum or rays lugs. this is what allows ppl to both the locking key and locking shaft with very little worry of over-tightening or stripping.

im not feeling thise lugs though.. and they are a tad heavier because of the composites of materials... i dont think these will sell greatly... more of a collector item. i would preffer spening 300 on another brand then these however i still prefer rays over any other brand.. even the neo kicks, t1r's which are the new fad.

well then im sorry i made this thread because you dont like it. :eyebrow:

i was simply pointing out a new set of lugs i found.

btw, i have had my Rays black extended lugs for quite some time and not one of them is fading....

Dr_Isotope
10-10-2008, 03:35 AM
I'm stating a simple fact: just because VOLK/RAYs sees fit to slap their logo on the box doesn't mean it's worth the money you have to pay to get it. If you like the looks of those disgusting RAYs Formula Nuts, by all means, buy a set.

I wouldn't buy them for all of the reasons I laid out previously.
