Sony's LittleBigPlanet is one of the most high-profile releases of this Christmas season. Developer Media Molecule has seen its game go from indie darling to AAA system-seller in the past year, thanks to the many appearances that the game has made at trade shows and event.

However, fans of the game are going to have to wait slightly longer to get the game. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced it is recalling the game from retailers, it learned that the soundtrack featured some lines from the Qu'ran backed with music. A SCEE representative also confirmed to GameSpot that this recall would be global, and could not confirm when the game would now actually hit shelves with the offending music removed.

The confirmation follows rumours that that Singing Safari level of the game features a song with two expressions found in Islam's central holy text, the Qur'an. Cached pages on the official PlayStation forum claim that the two phrases are (literally translated) "every soul shall have the taste of death" and "all that is on earth will perish."

While Sony's release does not confirm that the above lines are in the game, they do claim that "one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur'an." Independent translation done for GameSpot confirmed that the lines linked from the original post are indeed from the Qur'an.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's release continues, "we have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused." It ends by saying that the company will confirm the new launch date shortly.

I don't know about that. How are consumers being 'faked out'? We'll still get them game without
the offensive songs that we will never knew existed. To compare Sony to Rockstar is like apples to oranges.
Sony is know for their family products whereas Rockstar is known for it's mature content. (Mostly.)
Trying to compare the 2 companies can go back and forth forever. Its all a difference of opinion.

I forgot to add GoW2 to the list, lol. R2 is nothing more than a generic shooter, but it still looks good. Atleast it's supposed to be better than the incredibly over rated R1.

If I hate that NFS jumped the shark with this "import culture" bull____e (see: pretty much everything after Underground), but loved the games before then, will I love GRID?

IGN gives LBP a 9.5.
There are a handful of things that can be cleaned up or fixed by way of patches that are a little annoying at the moment, but they barely mar the surface of an overall game that is nothing short of brilliant in terms of both its design and implementation.

Yes, you will love GRID. Takes time to get used to, but it's cool. I got hooked on it.

no i see the reviews on little big planet..iono i was hoping someone could correct me and explain why its so awesome. I just went to gameshop/gamestealer and sold all my ps2 items..the whole system and everything. I only got 50 dollars and I had to choose between little big planet and COD5. I choose COD5 but ima buy little big planet for my girl in 30 minutes :D if its not sold out.

It's basically a very addictive and very pretty platformer that's highly, highly customizable. Avatars, levels, the whole shebang... fully customizable.

Agreed about the PSN I would gladly pay if it means servers are going to be upgraded and games will run almost perfectly from day 1 like 360 does!

yea you should defiantly get this game..so i was playin this game with my girl again and after the level they sum up who collected the most points. I won so I started to cheering by waving my hands and all of a sudden my sackboy back hands her sackgirl in the face lol. I was like OHH SNAPP!

a friend brough over his PS3 and LBP today. It was awesome. A very unique and "cute" came. Really fun!

I got LBP yesterday along with a new controller (I like good vibrations :lalala: ) and hooooly moly is this game fun :) I love how you can smack the other sacks around. Such a good game!

I've been playing some of the user-made levels. A little are fun, most blow.
I wanted to play today, but I was too busy doing stuff around the house.

Was playing online with other players and its FUN to smack them around lol. Still getting the hang of internet play. Not sure why you can't see a screen of possible people/worlds to play in instead of getting a random one that has already started :?

The only times I've ever experienced down time for Live, is during maintenance and last Holiday season (down for 2 days). I experience problems with PSN every single time I turn the PS3 on.

Live had that one massive outage where everything was down for like two weeks (which sucked, but MS made up for it), but I've never really heard anyone say good things about PSN.

OoOoo costumes?! I still haven't really messed around with the game or really looked in to the game on websites lol. Those costumes are cute but.. I don't think I'd buy one. :?

My experiences with PSN has been decent, I haven't had any of the problems so many other people are reporting. Maybe since mine is a 60gb model and the ones having problems are the 20gb, 40gb or 80gb.

get from point A to point B, but there is a bunch obstacles you need to get past/solve to get to point B

Everybody is buying it because of the user-created levels. Gives the game tremendous replay value.
Also, you can customize your little sack boy/girl. (This refers to the game you PRE-VERTS!! :rofl:)
My local BB has been out of LBP for 2 weeks. Every time they a shipment, they sell out.

Customize your sack boy/girl and the world you're in. It's more of a puzzle game but its a really good puzzle game. Ever play ICO on PS2? Puzzle game and sorta fun. LBP is a puzzle game but it turns in to an addiction :) See if your BestBuy as it as a demo on their PS3 setup.
