Milestone!
So... As of this past Saturday, October 18th, my xB has broken the.............
drum roll please.............

30,000 mile mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
LOLOL.
I have had the car since January 2006 when it had 1 mile on it. I've had it for 34 months so it breaks down to 882 miles per month. most importantly, i've had no problems with it. here is a complete list of what's been done:
1) several oil changes (obviously)
2) changed brake pads twice (once at 14k miles, again at about 25k miles) because city driving sucks!
and that's it! in the next couple of months, i am getting new tires for it and it's also due for an oil change pretty soon. as i said, im keeping this thing til 300,000 miles, so i am 1/10th of the way there!

that's the one upside (or downside, depending on your likes) about living in manhattan. i use the train 99% of the time. the other 1% is the box. l0l. the box is for visiting friends on the weekend, going on short trips (beach, amusement parks, etc) and visiting fam i have up north in the boston/new hampshire area. that should explain the low miles. my rents use it during the week - they put maybe 20 miles on it, if that.
but isn't like 10k miles the average per year across the US? if so, im on par with that figure.

Your 30,000 is really like 60,000 in the big apple.
its 12-15,000 miles per year ....so in my case anything after 60,000 im killing the car value...wish i had 48,000 lol...so any box thats 4 years old should have 48,000-60,000 as the max...im allready almost at 60 so thats not going to happen for the low side wonder if i can at elast keep her under 75,000 by the time i pay her off ...i think i can do it ive only got 13 payments left and its all mine ..
Wow! You have changed the brakes twice already?...
I bought my new '05 xB with 34 miles on it and I'm just nearing 40K miles and I have yet to replace the pads on it. They've been sitting under my driver's seat since the summer.

ive only did one brake job just about 200 miles ago and could have still went a few miles more ,but did not feel like tearing the car down again in 3 months...just now cought that as well,,,
yeah man, did the brakes twice. the factory pads went at about 14 or 15k, then like 10k later, they went too!!! i do speed and heavily brake so that explains it. not to mention, there are red lights all over manhattan and in queens, it's red lights and stop signs like crazy so i am guessing that's the reason why.
i posted on this board re: changing the pads so quickly and a couple of people were at like 60k miles and on the original pads so i was like wtf?!?!
anyway, i think its my driving habit + the frequency of stops. i honestly brake every 20-30 seconds while driving - for a red light, a stop sign, traffic, etc etc...

Replaced originals around 15k. Still has a little left at 36k on the clock today.
Already bought set#3, but did not quite need them yet.
OP, 30k is just getting broken in based on some of the really high milers that post here!
36k at almost 3 years to the day! Heres to another 100k!
