View Full Version : Tein S-Tech springs with stock rims.
tChick 12-22-2004, 09:51 PM I know there was a post already with pictures of a tein s-tech drop, but heres one with my stock rims still on. I plan on changing them out to 19's after winter passes.
It's still a good drop despite just dropping it last night. I'm sure within a week it'll set nicely. I HAD the TRD springs, but it just wasn't low enough for my taste. I too have NO rubbing and I love 'em!

JustynTime 12-22-2004, 10:05 PM Finally!!! Someone posted some usefull "after" pics. All the others are from too far away or are too dark to tell where tire ends and wheel gap begins. Now I know wht springs to get!!
tChick 12-22-2004, 10:15 PM I wish I had pix of when I had stock, TRD, AND Teins...all right next to each other =(
kix0102 12-22-2004, 10:25 PM wow, very nice, where did you get those installed? and how much was the installation ?
tChick 12-22-2004, 10:29 PM My boyfriend owns a shop. He owns an integra and loves working on his and other peoples cars...I noticed you live in IL. If you need a hook up, i'm sure he'd install yours for $50...much better than what you pay at the dealer...
kix0102 12-22-2004, 10:46 PM Ill keep that in mind, if i ever scrape up enough money for the springs :) thanks for the offer.
kris79 12-23-2004, 01:09 AM nice i like it! could you post more pictures please i am still desiding what springs i want.
tChick 12-23-2004, 01:16 AM Sure, i'll try to get as many angles as I can get for you...;)

YES I KNOW my car is dirty...It's winter season over here in the windy city ;). More questions?! Just ask...
kris79 12-23-2004, 02:09 AM man i love the drop! how long have you had it? i am asking cause this is my daily car and i really didnt want to drive it like my other cars. and i dont want it to settle and get any lower than that. hows the ride?
tChick 12-23-2004, 02:22 AM We dropped it 24 hours ago so it has yet to settle. The drive is of course a little more sensitive than stock but I can't really tell. Like I said, I went from stock, to TRDS, to TEINS, so it was kind of a slow transition. Plus i've been paying more attention to my new intake rather than the handling. But all is well! ;)
wow very nice :)
what kinda intake you runnin'? :-P
kris79 12-23-2004, 02:40 AM cool i just measured my other car i am only 4 1/2 inches off the ground i think imma go with these springs. how the camber? and what shocks you running?
tChick 12-23-2004, 03:03 AM K&N CAI...which i'll probably sell in a year cause i'm planning on getting a sc or start building up for a turbo...but it's all for fun for now.
I haven't cked out the camber yet but I'll take a look at it as soon as I get in there again. I'm runing stock shocks for now. I was thinking of getting TRDS but i'll wait to see how the shocks take to he new drop...if I have to replace the shocks than i'll get TRDS..
rolstc 12-23-2004, 03:51 AM are you from chicago ... or illinois .. and how much did you purchase these springs for?and where is your b.f's shop ?
RockstEdy 12-23-2004, 04:12 AM We dropped it 24 hours ago so it has yet to settle. The drive is of course a little more sensitive than stock but I can't really tell. Little sensitive and yet still rides good? I found my springs
Thanks for the pics tChick!!
BigKid 12-23-2004, 04:46 AM I've had mine on a week tomorrow, and after measuring the current height yesterday, I'm sitting at 2.25" in the front, and 2" in the rear. The camber is off by several degrees...but its does got one hellva stance!
The rides very nice and solid, very nice in the turns too. I've noticed better handling off the bat.
Still have to get my alignment done...have any of you had your alignment done yet? Curious to know how much the factory camber plates will correct the negative camber...see if it worth pay'in, or just wait for an aftermarket camber plates.
Hotchkis will be releasing there camber correction kit to resolve our dilema soon. But not soon enough. :?
BTW: Those of you that have already got the K/N typhoon kits are lucky...some of us now have to wait due to a back order. :x I called into K/N directly...but my friend said they'd be on backorder for about month...hellva deal too...THOSE BASTARDS!?!?
daewonder 12-23-2004, 05:21 AM very nice tChick! how about a side profile shot of the car where we can see the whole thing? if you have time of course
mksm2000 12-23-2004, 05:57 AM hey tc chick are u filipina?:D geee got the same exact car and color gurl nice ride which part of naperville u live?
tChick 12-23-2004, 04:02 PM Look'in gude tChick! lookin gude! ...any ideas on wheels yet?
nope! no clue...but I have a little time to look around...;) any ideas? i want a light silver color, not big on wide spokes, and i'd pefer something a little more light in weight....=)

nope, sorry...not the same high school. :?
Stefan_TC 12-24-2004, 11:37 PM Tc Chick,
Nice:) I got a hard time deciding what's hotter, your pretty face or the lowered ride on your TC :))
Anyways, I noticed that you decided to go with s-techs...
Are S-techs progressive spring rate like high-techs?
Also, is the drop even around the car or is the rear little lower ?( I guess you'w be able to answer this question when the springs settle... ( a week?)
Once again, realy hard time....:)
Thanks,
Stefan,
Brooklyn
Tenaj 12-25-2004, 12:36 AM Teins website says 2.44 front and 2.05 rear so the front is lower than the rear, by a considerable amount at that. But it does look very nice I must say, I myself will wait for H-Techs however because they are a 1.9f/1.7r drop and would look perfect imo.
lvnurs9 12-25-2004, 09:27 PM My S-Techs are sitting in my room...they will hopefully be installed before my trip to NYC on Wednesday. I will put pics up as well :)

BiRdMaN209 12-27-2004, 07:09 AM a couple questions... whats a camber?(lol, dont laugh  ) and what kind of shocks do you have ???can i put these s-tech's on my stock shocks? will the springs ruin the stock shocks?
daewonder 12-27-2004, 08:31 AM a couple questions... whats a camber?(lol, dont laugh  ) and what kind of shocks do you have ???can i put these s-tech's on my stock shocks? will the springs ruin the stock shocks?
i was told by a scion salesman that the stock shocks can withstand about a 1.5" drop without any problems. since the teins go lower than that, it would be wise to upgrade your struts as well. also, it can all depends on how and where you are driving. if your normal running grounds are nicely paved, you might have no problems on stocks.
also, here's a definition of "camber" i found on google-
Seen from the front and rear of the car, the angle of the tires in relation to the ground; tires that are perfectly perpendicular to the ground (90 degrees) are said to be at 'zero camber'. If the tops of the tires lean towards each other, the tires have negative camber, and if they lean out, the tires have positive camber. As a general rule, never have positive camber, and make sure the camber of, say, your front right wheel equals the camber of your front left wheel (make the camber angles on each axle match). If we were talking about oval racing, the rules would be different, but we're not. Sedan racing, with it's straights, turns and chicanes requires that, among other things, camber angles match. Usually one degree of negative camber on the fronts is good, because you want a good contact patch throughout a turn, and one or two degrees of negative camber on the rear wheels is fine. From there, experiment, one degree at a time.

Here is my post with a few pics. These springs are awesome!!! The ride is so smooth. I love them!
toyota_scion_tc 12-29-2004, 08:25 PM what the over drop. I know you said it sits 4 1/2". What is the stock height? Any rubbing on tires?
lvnurs9 12-29-2004, 10:35 PM No rubbing on tires. I have to measure again...after they settle.
Mx6GT91 12-29-2004, 10:53 PM The car looks really nice.
I just measured the gap with my TRD springs. I have a 1in gap, not much of a difference. Still they look great.
lvnurs9 12-30-2004, 04:05 PM I think my gap is like 1/2 in..not sure exactly, but they are really close to tucking :)
VW2SCION 12-31-2004, 04:56 AM has the springs settled yet? since you said it almost looks like it's tucking... any recent pics??? i'm debating between the H-tech and the S-tech .5 inch diffference... i really don't want it to tuck i just want it to be right above the wheel... Thanks!
BigKid 12-31-2004, 06:10 AM has the springs settled yet? since you said it almost looks like it's tucking... any recent pics??? i'm debating between the H-tech and the S-tech .5 inch diffference... i really don't want it to tuck i just want it to be right above the wheel... Thanks!
What size wheel and tire are you going to be running?
I have 19's with 215/35-19's. From the lip of the fender to the tire, I'd say theres less then 1/2" maybe alittle less. Its has settle quite nicely!
lvnurs9 12-31-2004, 03:23 PM Ok, so the gap is a lil more than 1/2 inch
A 1/2 inch is a lot smaller on a ruler lol Sorry.
The front is about an inch from the edge of the fender to the top of the wheel.
The rear is about 1 1/2 inch...a little less.
When you are standing above the car and not eye level it looks like they are almost tucking. It looks very nice. I am at work right now, so I can't post pictures, but I will when I get home. I washed and waxed her this morning and took pics, so I do have them.
lvnurs9 01-05-2005, 09:13 PM Ok so is anyone having a camber issue? Stu pointed out...ya thanks lol....that my rear wheels camber in a little bit. So am I supposed to do something about this??
BigKid 01-05-2005, 10:19 PM Ok so is anyone having a camber issue? Stu pointed out...ya thanks lol....that my rear wheels camber in a little bit. So am I supposed to do something about this??
It does camber in quite a bite, but to remedy the issue would be pointless right now, IMO. If all goes well, Hotchkis will be releasing there camber correction kit late Jan. early Feb. so I've heard. Hopefully that will help those of you that are bothered by it.
As I've learned...as long as you get your alignment fixed, you should be in good shape, as for the adjustments for the rear...well you'll have to wait alittle longer before you can correct the rear. I'm not saying its not do-able, but the factory camber plates, only adjust so far...sure it might fix the problem for the 1" coil springs, but 2" or more and your gonna have to go aftermarket. PLus why go and have it done twice, when you can have it done once to save time and money.
lvnurs9 01-06-2005, 01:25 AM thanks for the info BigKid :)
mine aren't Tein's but it's lower...

i also have no gap, my tires are tucked...
VW2SCION 01-17-2005, 06:52 AM wow that is really low... hows the ride on the skunk2? i checked out ur profile that is some nice leather. how much did that go for? and the turbo? really nice
whyte_AZN 01-17-2005, 07:16 AM great choice of springs, i am getting the same ones to. now i know what it'll look like. thanks for the pix.
thanx... i got the leather as a dealer option... and the turbo's not mine... we're in the process of fabricating it for my car... hav all the parts but it's a _____ to try and get goin... as for the ride of the springs it's amazing, cuts corners like a champ... it handle's so well!
toby3002 01-18-2005, 01:39 AM hey tcgirl what kind of dash kit do u have on there?
tC_Dragon 01-20-2005, 07:37 AM nice post, and great pics to go along with em. Too bad i live in such a hilly neighborhood and have such a steep ___ driveway... i'd never make it up my narrow and steeply angled driveway without scraping... thats why i never went up it for the 4 years i had my integra dropped on neuspeed race.
