dude that phone looks awesome.... i've been looking for a new phone and i was planning to get an imported phone like the sony ericsson k850i or the nokia n93i... but this one looks interesting.. hmm...
HTC G1's interface and OS look very under developed...i WAS looking into one before they came out...but alas nothing can beat the iPhone.....well except an unlocked iPhone 3G...which is not currently possible...
BUT!
this is all of course a matter of taste, next time we are in the same place at the same time, i would like to take a closer first hand look at the device

Mine is in the mail.....Although I need to trade it for a Bronze one..Antoher coworker of mine picked his up today..I just cant go Apple..everyone has one..*blech* I sold my Crackberry Curve to get it...
My Nokia N95 is still better than the G1 because the G1 doesn't have a head phone jack, lacks stereo bluetooth, and Microsoft Exchange support. But I do like the touch screen, google maps, 3G support, WI-FI, GPS, and bluetooth on the G1
it's single touch though, not multi-touch, so no pinch to zoom or any sort of gesture, just chicken pecking at it.
i played with one the other day, they had the chance to beat the iphone outta the box with exchange and a headphone jack and multi-touch and such... but they totally dropped the ball imo.
OS is open source though, so i'd love to see how it evolves, but the G1 isn't the phone i'd want to use it on.

The open source part is the best part.. i'm getting new apps for the phone daily and there are some cool ones.
i love the phone. i don't use exchange on my phone so i don't need that feature - i was bummed that it was lacking the stereo headphone jack so that is a bummer, but all the other features that it comes with make up for it.
the iphone is a great phone too, but for me i didn't want to get it hack it and pray it all worked
all & all - i love this phone (the google street view with compass mode is GREAT & the real time sync with gmail, google contacts and calendar are great too)

there are 2 main reasons - one is that its on t-mobile & i don't have to worry about hacking another phone & two 'cause i really wanted it due to the open source platform
I honestly thought Google would go bigger and better. I don't really like the design of it too much.. and I would NEVER go to T-Mobile.
My [PINK!] BB Curve is great though... best phone I've owned!

i love my pearl (same as a curve minus full keyboard lol) so it was hard to get away from blackberry..
i think google did go big on the software and the features - yes the phone isn't all that nice looking compared to iphone, but it's all worth it to me

I got ur back...I've played with one and cant wait to get mine...People are so gaga over the Iphone....It's actually kinda sickning...."It's the Iphone or nothing"...I had to listen to that from a bunch of people when I was making up my mind on which one to get..Im happy with T-mobile and have had no major problems in the past 6-8 years...
