Default What u guys think of the rear bump applique

Thinking of adding this to my PW xB....I think it will add a small bit of detail to my box. I am trying to stick with mostly white and black items for the car. White rims, white spoiler, black taillights, white lettering on windows, ect......

Good idea or too tacky? I may add some custom black pinstripping on the sides down the road.

I have it but dont like it.

I only got it because my wife is short and needs to take in and out a baby stroler. I thought it would hide the scratches as long as possable.

I originally wanted one but got my xB without it. It looks good on that PW, I say go for it.

If your intention is to only prevent scratching on your bumper as you move items in and out of your cargo area, Scion has a mat that has an extended piece that pulls out to protect the bumper when needed. If you are just concerned about minmizing incidental contact scratches back there, the applique is more than sufficient.

I have one of the appliques on my BSP and I was surprised on delivery that this item was not more like a piece of thicker rubber applied to the bumper to absorb some of possible damage.

My humble opinion...

imo it is a waste of money because i think it is both ugly and kinda non-functional. if you like the look go with it or if u honestly believe it may help in the prevention/hiding of scratches go for it. if you dont really know the answer to either of those forget about it.

+: it has definitely saved my bumper from a few nicks and scratches.
- : it collects dirt pretty easily

That's why I didn't get it. I looked at all those holes and imagined trying to clean crud from the edge of each one.

Those little holes get filled with crap ... dirt, wax and the like.

Toyota/Scion makes a rear cargo liner. Its not a mat, and is water proof. It has a flap that pulls out and covers the rear bumper. Considering all the sutff i have moved in and out of my box, there are no scratches on my bumper. I purchased it on Ebay for $70 bucks.

I wouldn't get it, just get some clear vinyl or something like that for the scratch protection with no problems cleaning around it.
