Rest in Peace or better yet, rest noisily playing your tuba........

Try this link. This is the saddest, most sickening story I've ever read!! What's this world coming to??

It is indeed very disturbing......I always thought for years he was a vagrant guy peddling for money..........then I saw him in Sports Illustrated and saw he was a normal guy from Belltown....has a musical degree.....played in some of the areas highest theaters with the symphony's.......
I feel ashamed for judging him based on his appearance those many years I saw him outside the Mariner's games.......
It is a sad loss for the Seattle area.......as for the 5 punks who committed the assault that led to his death.......I hope they area tried as adults and put in prison for a long time.
The violence in Seattle has been growing at a huge rate the last 10 years....it needs to stop......

Yesterday Mo & I created a non-profit memorial account fund to help out Ken Schramm and John Carlson (KOMO 1000) so that we could raise funds to pay for a funeral since the family can't.
Anyone interested in donating can go into any Bank of America branch and ask for the Edward 'Tuba Man' McMichael's Memorial Fund to help with burial costs.
We're hoping to raise enough to not only cover expenses but also have some sort of memorial(s) created and put up in his honor. We are currently booking a benefit jazz show up in Ballard and trying to see what the major league sports & Seattle music establishments (Ballet & Opera because he used to play out in front there too) can do to help out.
Here are some current links to more information on this tragedy -

Today's New PI Story: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/jamies...obert05xx.html
KOMO Story: http://www.komonews.com/aboutradio/events/33858104.html
More also on KIRO, Seattle Times, & KOMO TV. You can also listen to KOMO Radio 1000 today from 10 - 2 and hear more about ideas for planned memorials and about how the donation drive is going!
Please help if you can. We want to cover funeral expenses at least. Every $1 helps!!!

Also, if you have any idea for how to memorialize...let me know.
Right now we are working on plaques at the stadiums, some want his tuba bronzed, some want an exhibition of his tuba with all of his sports memorablia, and many others.
Do you have an idea?
And...anyone who has photos or video of the Tuba Man...we are in the process of creating a website and we'd love add your memories!

Ummm...we'll see how much we raise. The funds are coming in though and it looks like we'll at least be able to pay for funeral!
John Carlson wants to bronze the tuba and put it up outside one of the stadiums.

The press definitely knows about it since that is who I worked with to get this going.
Right now I know the info is on the Seattle Times, Seattle PI, KOMO, KIRO, and other local news affiliates.
