Default 5spd Conversion

Don't know where to post this so this section will do. I'm planning on doing a 5spd conversion on this car. I'm wondering if anyone have any experience or knowledge about this tasks. I decided this stock tranny probaly won't hold power if I do mod as it broke with stock power. Any help would be great..

get the 1zz tranny. much stronger and better ratios. plus it bolts right up to the motor. probably just as hard to do as just swappin a reg scion tranny

Thanks, the 1zz tranny should be easier to find then this. My friend is building a heated garage soon, so ill have a place to do it at.

NICE i would love to have a heated garage. or ____ just a garage. my garage is currently housing my bimmer project so yeah no room for tha box. nothing like workin in the freezing cold when it rains out in the driveway right?

I don't mind working outside in the cold and I tend to work at night too.lol I never did anything like this before, so I want to know whats involved. Is it harder than disassembling an engine and putting back? I've done that already.heh

If they have the same Bellhousing it should drop right in, even then they will prolly be myriad little things that need to be done.

Thanks, if the 1zz doesn't fit. the 1nzfe is fine (mabe from an echo). I'm wondering how hard this task is though.

well. removal of auto shift mech. and then addition of pedals assembly , you will need a complete 5 spd setup , shift cables , and the whole nine.

And don't forget to plug the transmission fluid stuff that isn't part of the engine, fabbing pedal bracket, running the shift cable, ect. going the other way is way more easy

You should check out the gear ratio's before you put in the tranny from a 1ZZ.

1NZ ratio's are very short...if they are not that way with the 1ZZ, you won't be going anywhere fast.

from what i've been told the only difference is a stronger clutch assembly / press plate and a different ratio for 5th.

Thanks and the 1ZZ tranny gears aren't that different. Project won't happen until later next year when I get my new job, heh.

yeah the 5th gear is a lower ratio meaning higher top speed but slower 5th gear accel.
