Default How much do shops charge to install a dvd/navigation unit?

I'm thinking about getting the pioneer avic fbt90 head unit online, but shops around me wanna charge like $200 to install? Does that sound about right? It seems a bit hi to me but maybe that's just the goin price for install

Were do you live? Its so easy I would do it for free if you lived close by. I'm sure there is some one that lives close by thats on here that will help you out. Just get the right wiring kit and its basically plug and play. The plastic around the stock stereo pulls out easy there are 4 10mm bolts holding it bracket in place its very simple. You will want to by pass some of the steps on your new deck so you can watch dvds while driving down the road.

One of the local shops where I live charge $35 to install a HU.

I did mine myself, first time and it was easy as many poeple have posted around here.

Do it yourself. You have a full forum of guides and such that'll tell you exactly what you need, isn't it worth $200 to do some reading?

go to Sightwaves.com if you're down in Socal area. They're located in Eagle Rock, Ca at (323) 258-7282. Talk to them, one of them owns a tC and has worked on plenty of our cars.

200 is way too much to install HU.

although this is an interior forum, as long as we are on the subject of installs... i talked to a shop about installing a TRD CAI that i will hopefullly be getting for x mas and they wanted $85 to get the job done

im 17
im not a pro at installs like some on this site, but 85 seems a lil steep for a CAI install
am i crazy?

When you get the CAI, post up in the regional forums section that you need help installing it. I'm sure
somebody on here from So. Cal would help you out. All you'd have to do is probably buy them lunch.

To the OP; I was in the same boat (installing a HU anyways) a couple of years back. I ordered my HU at
crutchfield.com and they included Master Guides on the install and disassembly of my tC. It was so easy.
Took me a little under 2 hours and that was going slow! I even installed my girl's new HU last Xmas
in about 45 mins. GL

yah i figured 85 to install a CAI was kinda insane
dealerships try to rape you a.m.a.p.

Hyghgynx, with my luck they will want to go someplace that charges $200/plate
