Default Wicked TYC LED Turn / Reverse light mod with pics!

I got tired of just the single reverse light so I decided to modify my TYC tail lights to include 2 more reverse lights! The TYC tail lights are already LED, but not the turn signal. So I pulled the incandecent single element socket and modded it to house an 1157 dual element bulb. I searched for a bulb that could be amber for my turn signals and also white for my reverse lights. Then I found these awesome dual color (Amber/White) 1157 LED bulbs from www.v-leds.com that are wicked cool! I then just had to run a jumper from the existing reverse light to my new modded turn signal/back up lights! Check out the results!

I loved these bulbs so much that I ordered a second pair for the front so now my driving lights are super white and turn signals amber!

The only thing else I had to do was get an electronic flasher so the turn signals didn't hyper-flash since the LED bulbs use so little power. The best part is v-leds even had the flasher I needed to go with the bulbs, these guys are awesome!

It wasn't that difficult really... The hardest part was modding the socket with the dremmel, if you can use a dremmel, you can do this easily!

I mentioned doing this a while ago, but not with the LED bulb. I'm glad someone did it!

Good job!

I thought so at first too, which is why I started with one set (for the tail lights), but once I saw them and how they looked... Definitely get what you pay for. And remember, LEDs last forever so you never have to replace them.

The ones in the front look even better because you can actually see the bulb when it is lit, You can actually see every little LED when you look up close and it looks awesome! Then when you turn on the blinker it alternates white, amber...

I love the fronts. Are they as bright or brighter than the stock bulb?

How bright are the parking leds of the tails? I like that mod, but looked away from the tyc as they seem dim for parking lights.

What I did was buy a clearanced halogen bulb fitted to a socker for the reverse light and use it.

These are definitely brighter than the stock bulbs, especially since the parking/driving lights are white! And they look great when you turn on the blinker or flashers because they alternate white/amber... everyone who sees them has to do a double-take.

The parking lights of the TYC tail lights are nice and bright when you are directly behind the vehicle and look great because they ring the other two round lights.

Bright? So these are functional reverse lights? Funny I know, use to be white leds were good for looking at, now putting out enough light to see anything by.

I may have to remove the tinted anzos from mywish list.

Absolutely! These are super bright and very functional. I even replaced the stock reverse light in the bumper with a similar (white only) bulb from v-leds because I liked these so much. I now have three LED bulbs and can see a hundred times better now when backing up at night over the stock single incandecent bulb.

Now that's clever. Bet alot of people will use this and shave the bumper light, or figure out a way to route the exhaust out the bumper hole (which I think would be dope...) Nice work!

I thought about rerouting the exhaust out the reverse light hole also, but there is a bunch of metal in the way. It's not chassis framing, so it could be done, but it wouldn't be a simple task of just pipe bending.
