Go custom.. it'll be to your personal preference, it'll save you money, and you know it fits right.

I've tried a custom apexi catback. Without a resonator it's pretty loud. With a [22" magnaflow] resonator is had a very nice tone to it.

So far I've had a Greddy SP2, Tsudo N1, and custom apexi N1 catbacks. Of those 3...
SP2 > Tsudo > apexi

However, Precision Muffler axleback is by far the best exhaust I have heard though. Very silent until you're at WOT

greddy evo 2 > any other exhaust. it may be $500+ for just the axleback, but when u get into sound with headers and other mods it is IMO the ONLY exhaust anyone should ever put on their car. ive heard others with same mods and all sound very ricey

that is misleading, hks does not make a cat-back for a tc, that is an axleback only exhaust. Ive had both exhaust and to tell you the truth, i loved them both! both had great looks, sound, and fitment! i would go with the hks thought because i like the angled look. the hks is louder than the tanabe but its a deep tone!
