My friend hooking me up with brand new Hifonics amp ZXI and JL W3 Subwoofer and box with wiring kit for 200$. is it worth getting and will it hit hard enough?

I've got a JL W3v2....it's nice for SQ. Not so much for SPL.

The JL will 'hit' in a tC, but you won't BEAT unless you have a QUALITY amp and at least 2 W3s IMO.

Get the Sub, but ditch the amp.

yes hifonics is bad. JL is ok but i really don't like the sound.

i have a hifonics zeus 6006 amp powering my diamond audio and it sucks it. my subs hit harder wit a differnt amp when i seen it. FOr amp wise i would go for Arc audio

Hifonics is budget. It can get worse but can get a ton better. Their Brutus line of amps are fairly decent amps.

its not the worst, but it is far from being good. what is your budget exactly, im sure people can help you out if there's a budget. For something low priced but still quality, look into a phoenix gold rsd12 and a xenon x400.1. These, you need to buy used, but for the price, they're pretty decent if you put that sub in a good box (that sub is said to be a "poor man's idmax").

im not a pg fan boy by any means, just for a low priced set up, it works, my friend had that same set up, sounded good, and it pounded when you wanted it to.

I know some people don't like JL, but that's mainly due to price I think. They're rock solid if you can find them used, or discount from eBay if you find an honest seller. Just keep in mind the warranty's gone at that point.

Also, does anyone have any experience with their G-series of amps? They're supposed to be JL's budget line and don't incorporate some of the power regulation circuitry to give a constant power output across the impedance and voltage band.

jl is the best audio I've ever had. And I've gone thru alot of different brands. I'm running a 13w7 off a 1000/1 and I use to have 3 jl 10" w3 and those were great too. u just can't go wrong with them :)

only reason why jl is so expensive is the amount of r&d they put into their products. think of it this way.. the w7 is still what everyone compares new products to, and that came out 8 years ago or so. Also, with authorized you get a good warranty, anything goes wrong, go to the dealer, get new part. done deal, this is only if you buy authorized.

sure, you can find parts that are similar for less money, but to each their own.

i don't dislike jl because of the price i just don't like the way it sounds.

maybe.... but that would mean i can't hear soft thigns which is not an issue. i had jl equipment and upgraded to some dls stuff which is hands down a better setup.

same here, i had JL Audio and downgraded power wise to CDT Audio and Elemental Designs. Sounds way better now!

don't get the sony combo, just buy the JL W3 with the hifonics amp, wiring kit, and whatever else your friend is including because it's a really good price for all of that, just don't give the amp all of the gain and blow up the sub. i used to own a hifonics brutus bxi1606D amp for 2 years and then gave it away since i got my Memphis audio system for free, but that amp hits alot harder than my current memphis and never had a problem with it as well so i know it's a good amp for the cost of it. as for the comment about memphis being better than DLS i'm not sure because i have never heard a DLS system before but i sure hope it's well worth the cost of it, i know memphis isn't bad as well because it's good for the cost and sounds alot better then stock speakers.

I love my Memphis, it hits WAY harder than the Alpines I used to have.

Hifonics isn't crappy, im pushing two rd audio classics with brutas hifonics 1500wt 1500rms amp and im pushing man. My opinion is that hifonics is a good comp. but just research to see if the amp can give out the right amount of power for the speakers.

he said sq not loud and you have no idea how many hifonics amps i've seen blow up that i need to replace...
