man went to my scion dealer today. those _____es dont know ____. asked for the hot lava that didnt even know it was available. they cant tell me when i can get it or anything. i'm at the place with cash in hand for reserve or whatevers needed and that cant even help me. i told them if i couldnt get the hot lava then i wouldnt even get it. does anyone here know when the hot lava is avail. to peeps in n.c. thanks yo

It's not available yet anyhwhere. Right on the scion website it says not available until spring 2004.

We haven't even received the hot lava models here at the port yet. As far as I know, they're supposed to be off the ship sometime next month. I'll let you know when we get some in. Now as far as when your dealer will get them in, I can't answser that. :)

ncscion don't be too hard on you Scion guy down there..you would be surprised of how many people don't know about the R.S 1....at the dealerships there hasn't been a lot of info about it...for people new to Scion there is a lot of info to get caught up in....there so much information on this site and guys like Drew and V who know so much...but they also been doing this since may of last year (that's how long scion been out in Cali) so don't be too hard on him...just make sure he gets on here at scion life so he can get caught up :D

the people at the dealer are clueless. they tell me it is no harder to get the hot lava then it is any other color. i have tried a number of dealers around eastern nc and get the same bs. the sales reps are not educated well enough on their new product. wish they knew as much as you guys. so do you all know how to get on a waiting list for H/L

It all depends on your dealer, most will require a deposit and they will just add you onto a waiting list they have. Once your Hot Lava xb comes in they will call you and you go down and pick it up. Its not hard to do just find a dealer who' knows something about it.

My story went a little something like this........

1) i order a black cherry red from my dealer.
2) i went to scion.com and Mia ( i imagine this hot little blond ) told me about this site
3) i just became familar with this site, and it was posted that for an addition grand, i can have an orange ( which i always wanted, i love the look of metallic orange these days, esp. the new Z ) which is called Release Series 1.0. This was the evening of Dec. 31, so i had to wait till the morning of the first to make the call.
4) called the dealer, and told him about the r.s.1.0, and he knew nothing about it. Said he would look into it and call me right back. Meanwhile i E-mailed him the Toyota Press Release on the r.s.1.0 so that he may become edjucated on it.
5) he called back about 15 minutes later, told me that there was indeed a r.s.1.0 in orange, and that i was on the list to get one at that dealership.
6) just got a call last week, and he told me that the first shipment of xBs are going to be in the first week of Feb. and that i could have picked up my black cherry then, but i would have to wait to hear back from him about the r.s.1.0 in a couple of more weeks. Something about they dont know what they are getting in a shipment until a couple of weeks before they arrive at the dealer.

So its really not surprising that your dealer doesnt know about the r.s.1.0 Hot Lava. Its just funny when the dealer says, " thanks, its people like you who are really into this Scion thing that make our jobs easier."

CBS thats true, its about the same thing the guy at my dealer said. but i went and put a $500 deposit on it today. CBS my feelings are the same as yours. i like the xb at first but i didnt want those colors. meanwhile i mess up and buy a 2003 diamante. now i am going to trade now that my true car with the color that i needed is available. to me its not about being the only one in town maybe with that color. its just to me the xb deserves a more flashy color like H/L, IMO

i got some information emailed to me about the rs 1.0 and southern california is getting 320, so you should be able to get one.

All I know is as long as my dealer gets 2 then I got 1. I was the second person to put a order in for the 1.0 at the dealer. Well so they say. All in all though I think if you get your hold for them now you should definitly get one.

I'm not suprised he hasn't heard about the 1.0...there's dealers out here that haven't even heard of it. Heck, there's probably dealers out here who still don't know about tC!!!! I had some guy call me the other day, and ask if the camry is RWD, because some salesman told him that (ay ay ay!).

California is getting more than that. The L.A. region is getting 320, and I think there's about 60 or 80 dealerships in the region, so the whole state will probably get 600 or so 1.0's.

They'll be available in March, and they're going to go quick, so if a dealership tells you that you're on the list, make sure you keep following up with them so there's no mix-ups when the cars roll in!

Yeah and make sure your Scion Rep is as good as mine... see I found out that when you preference a vehicle, after a while when the list gets updated, you can get dropped from the list, so they need to keep makeing sure you stay on the list also. Cause you could go in and get on the list once, and if they don't know what they are doing you can get dropped off the list not to long after...

I might have to use your dealer Doc., cause if my dealer has screwed this up too, hes gonna have a size 13 parked right where the sun dont shine, and the moon dont glow. Im giving him the benefit of the doubt though, its actually 2 dealers that are selling me the xB, one who is an a$$ 0 <== thats a hole for those of you who are a little slow upstairs :wink: and the other dealer who seems to be legit, well see.

don't get down man...I know it sounds crazy but so many dealers don't know enough about the R S 1...but bear with us....this is a new thing...and it seems like a lot of people in Scion are new to toyota as well...I'm sure all us east coast scion dealer will have our share of growing pains...if the dealer you are working with now can't help you call around maybe there's another Scion Dealer not too far away...and The R.S 1 is going to be hard to get your hands on....with only 2100 units I sure lots of people are going to want one and be left wanting....

i'm also in NC and called my local dealer to arrange for me to get my name on the list for the special edition model- He says " oh yeah - the TC " I said " NO " the hot lava -it's a special paint code". They have 4 sales persons and none of them had heard of the RS 1.0. I wanted to go down today and put a deposit on it. He asked me to be there !st thing monday morning. So they could research it. I guess this might be a good sign that I'll be the 1st on the waiting list. Wish me luck !!!!!!
My wife is amazed that I'm interested in the xb. She likes it- it's just that I've never driven anything other than an american made big V-8 before. ie.. the mustang,tran am,camaro,t-bird. I'm really looking forward to my 1st expierience with a toyota brand. I hope this is going to be a very good relationship.

The other thing is, is that even if they havent heard of it, it is still there in the database for you to preference it, if they say thay have never heard of it. Just tell them to preferece you and xB, and when they input the color choice they will see orange as an option to choose from...

not out of defense for the dealer, but my own experience so far, at least in the GST region, there is very little central direction with the scion's. i don't know how it is everywhere else, california has had a jump start to get things right. the dealers that seem to be doing well at it are the ones that are on the boards and finding out the stuff as you find it out. everything i've learned i'm picking up from this board and the scionworld group on yahoo, because quite honestly scion just isn't telling us all we need to know. it's kind of frustrating, but this is a new deal for Toyota too so they're trying really hard to get the ball rolling.
