Default maf question

What would happen if you were to put the maf close to the throttle body? You would be able to run a external blow off valve, if you want. You might not need to run a ems or fic and just let the stock ecu run it. I don't know if the computer would learn and compensate the values fast ? But it would eventually. The maf reads grams per min and the o2 would set them short and long term fuel trim. Has anyone tried this? No luck in search.

It's been done. It's called a blow-through setup. Ptuning does that with their car.

You still need an aftermarket ECU to help with fuel and ignition trims regardless of where you place the BOV. Please keep in mind if this was a good solution, then every auto manufacturer would do this instead of placing the MAF in the intake pipe. Food for thought.

isn't this simlar to a blow through setup where the maf sensor is on the charge pipe? I've seen that before but they are still runing ems because I can't see how the stock ecu would compensate for boost if it wasn't meant to in the first place?

Ya I was wondering if the computer wouldn't work or not. Thanks for the info.

yes you still need some engine/fuel management for the boost.. and to do it right the maf sensor needs to be recalibrated like what ptuning does..
