Default Scion tc shim issue?

my tc has been having an issue with the brakes for about the last few months, it's like when im braking very slowly to even gradually slowing down my brakes or something clanks against something else at least thats what it sounds like. And when im reversing and hit my brakes i get the same noise but just once and very loud. Does anyone know what it can be?

Is the noise coming from front or rear?

It seems like the brake pads are shifting in the caliper bridge. Pad shifting or click noise from brakes is considered normal any time you change the direction of the rotor travel. You probably can replace the brake hardware that sits between the pads and the caliper bridge to improve or eliminate the noise.

i just had this problem the other day i think...

i had just gotten my new rims and tires mounted and balanced, and in addition to my wheels balancing being WAAAAY OFFF (felt like my car was trying skip) i heard a strange popping noise whenever i was braking.

i just took it in today, they said it could be a couple of things, lugs could need adjusting, caliper could be touching the wheels etc. don't know what they did, but i got it back 100% fine when they were done. so try taking your wheels off, make sure they are resting properly and such, and then see if that helps.

I have that weird noise too. I think its just that my pads are almost gone since I had my cars for less than 4 years.
