My beloved box turned 40,000 miles today and I thought I would post some statistics:
Original Goodyear LS's with 5/32 tread remaining all around $250 (based on current replacement cost for the same tire)
8 oil changes (7 synthetic) totaling $345
New platinum plugs at 30,000 $10
New wiper blades front and rear $22
2 tire balances $80
1 K&N air filter $40
1,219 gallons regular fuel $3109
Average fuel economy: 32.8 mpg
Lowest fuel economy: 27.6 mpg
Highest fuel economy: 41.5 mpg
I'm sure there are some small items I have left out but this is the bulk of it.
This makes for a total operating cost (not ownership cost) of $3856 over the 40k period which equals $0.096 per mile (less than a dime).
I might add there have been $0 expended on repairs. If there had been then they would figure into the cost as well.
Just thought I would share.

If I'm reading it correctly, your on your second set of Goodyears, and they have 5/32 left?
How many miles we're you at when they got put on, and how many 32nds were you down too when you replaced them.

How many miles we're you at when they got put on, and how many 32nds were you down too when you replaced them. No, they are still the original tires and they have 5/32's tread remaining.

What's the $250 on your list for? Is it based on that you are about to replace them?
5/32 left at 40,000 is pretty good longevity. I have 5/32 left and I'm at 27k

In calculating how much it cost to operate the car I simply got some prices online for the Goodyear tires and then extrapolated the cost for using them for 40,000 miles.
I drive VERY conservatively which may explain the decent life I am getting from them. I figure there may be another 5,000 left before the wear bars.

Sure thing. It's not scientific in the least but it's ballpark for sure. Plus, I just like crunching numbers! :-)javascript:emoticon(':P')

I have no doubt it will go many miles with very little maintenance. I've driven mine on long trips too and other than the fact the seats feel like they need to be tilted back just a bit to give more leg support I really have no issues. I'm not a tall guy but I'm big and room has never been an issue either. I feel I could drive the car across country just fine.

... the seats feel like they need to be tilted back just a bit to give more leg support...
There was a thread on this a few years ago, and i did it. Remove the front bolts and loosen the rear bolts to allow the seat to be tilted back. Take the bolts to the hardware store and buy bolts that are about 1/2" longer, and a 1/2" stack of washers to fit each bolt. Put a stack of washers under the front seat mounts and push the longer bolts down through them. It was unpleasantly hard to catch the threads. Tighten all four bolts back up. The front edge of the seat will then be raised up 1/2" which feels better on trips for tall drivers with long legs.

I'm coming up on 80,000 miles and need to do a similar post. I've logged every oil change and EVERY gallon of gas that has ever gone into my car. I'm on the third set of tires and need new front pads soon, other than that, this car has been incredible. No problems whatsoever.
Hey GM, Chrysler, Ford... this is how you build a cheap, reliable, FUN TO DRIVE car! Pay attention!
