Default Best Short Shifters for the tC?

I am looking to buy a short shifter and have seen alot of cheap ones and was wondering who has what and how smooth does it feel...i want a really short shift but really smooth also which is why i havent bought a cheap one. and also does it mess up your transmission at all? i heard from some people it does but probably depends on many factors.. what do you guys think??
Thanks

Well you should be ready to hear this....SEARCH there are tons of threads about this, I know your new and all but learn the site rules and avoid the flaming

But OT: A lot of people love Doc I's short shifter combonations and are a very good price

also a lot of people use the megan racing/creative compact short shifter which comes with metal shifter bushing etc for like 70 bucks from a good site called wesellcarparts.com

Can also look into the TWM one

IF you search you will find charts of drop hieght, reduced throw % etc....

I personally have the Megan one and its awesome, But i would look into that or Doc I, im actually going to buy a Doc I install and see if i like it more and sell which either one i dislike more.....

Docs can be practically any drop or throw reduction you ask for, they are custom. They are also built out of stock units, so the pivot ball and hardware are guaranteed to fit and be strong enough. And they are priced very well. IMO there is no reason to look elsewhere.

I just recently installed the B&M which was a fairly easy install and i also replaced the cable shifter bushings with the ones from corsport , again fairly easy. I love the set up. Throws are shorter but not too drastic. The short shifter came with base bushings which stiffens up the feel of the shift. Shifts are more direct and you definitely know your in gear.
