in the market to boost
so i have had my 08 tc for 1 full yr and its fully paid off im rdy for some kind of boost. im leaning towards s/c but i was wondering if anyone knows if the 08 model sc is still having the same problem as the 05-06 model i believe i read it was bearing problems? i would like to go turbo but i have no clue on how ot take care of turbokits i like the fact i can take a s/c back to the dealer and let them deal with the problem since its warrenty still. im not looking to go crazy fast but alittle something. also say i got turbo kit ,right now i have 13000 k miles on it about how far or mileage will a turbo kit last if this car is my daily driven car and i do the normal up keep of oil change and spark plugs the basic stuff. will i be able to make the car last to 100k miles, thats about how long i wanna keep a car for. i do drive the car hard in the morning trying to rush to work i hit speeds from 60- 100+ trying to pass ppl on a two way road. another reason i want more power to pass ppl easier.
have you ever tried searching dude? i'm fairly certain this questions have been posted many times, and i'm almost positive that it was posted by you before.
as for the supercharger bearing problems, most of the problems with the trd supercharger wasn't the supercharger itself, but more so poor installation by inept dealership technicians or poor installation.

do some research..even if u dont wanna "go crazy" i woudnt go s/c...WAY to many isssues. But yeah look at the fi section and look at some turbo setups. But honestly if you want something ultimately relieable...i would just stay stock and add some little mods to give u some extra hp..but thats just me. if u got the money go turbo. just research and learn what to look for and what to buy.
Bad installs and tweaking the system seems to be the root cause of the problems with the early S/C's. We talk to hundreds/thousands nation wide and the mechanic who "doesn't need to read the instructions" seems to be the #1 problem. Right behind that are those that believed they know better than the engineers at TRD and could do anything to the S/C and engine without consequences. The S/C for your vehicle is solid and if installed at your dealer will carry a warranty for the remainder of your powertrain warranty (5years-60,000 miles) and it will cover parts and labor. I do recommend the S/C as long as you will be content with the unit as it's been designed by Toyota. The S/C is really not even worth the money. If you're going to keep it as-is I mean. Pushing more boost out of it will make it more worthwhile but now your losing your warrenty for little gain.
With a turbo, it can be equally if not more reliable from what I hear, and the power gains are MUCH better.
But the turbo will probably need rebuilt like twice to get to the mileage you want out of it. But i'm not real sure, the F/I section people will know.
