Just trying to see if there is enough interest to do eyelids of the XD..

Im working with a local compant in HAwaii is designing someparts for the SCIONs..

People will be interested, but we're more curious to see how they would look before putting money in

yeah and how much is going to cost us for a little plastic that go over our headlight man

WE dont know the cost... and i know its just a plastic peice but you have to figure and the R&D time and making of the mold that takes to get to final product.

WE are not going the normal fiber glass route many companies go with.. they are using plasic vacume forming for a more quality product. Quality is a must.!!

I know you can prob cut a sticker for a few bucks and get the same effect. but its not an eyelid..

We just came out with the proto type of the 08 xb eyelids and its soon to go into production.. we still havent figured a exact price yet.

Also what parts would you guys be interested is seeing developed for the XD..

150 is not bad at all considering they are gonna be made out of plastic and fit like a glove... fiberglass is garbage.... and painted to match the car for 150 is and awsome deal...

the XD products will be just as awasome.. but right now i cant give you a time frame on these but we now have the process down in to producing the parts.. so the R and D should be alot quicker.

With the way those look on the XB, I will buy these for my XD as soon as they are ready!! That is SIC!

Depending on now the xD eyelids look and the price, I may get myself a set too.

They are stick-on vinyl, I think... I think his was at Exposed in Sarasota.... They look pretty good!

IF you all notice the bump on the head light.. our will not have the bump and all smoothed out.. so it will flow better

they will be make of Polycarbonate "Lexan"

We are trying to get the mold and model done we just have to get the XB grill to market and than we be back on this project.

Thanks guys! But here's something, how far down on the headlights are theses going?

In my head I have how eyelids would look, but I do have another idea... Eyelid the headlights like you would normally, but build a piece to follow the rounded edge of the blinker (where the 3 indentions are in the lens), and just open up the the indentions like three slits for the blinker. I think that would look pretty sick!

yup the bump on the front is a big pain but it'll be workable. lol.

We Designed it to not have the bump so it flows smoother.

CAD is done! we are just waiting for the Partner AKA CNC to free up than we can cut the mold.

we should have a prototype shortly...

we are going to tweak this design before it goes into production.

As for the front matching the hood line that would be inpossible due to that we dont have the shape of the head light witht hat ugly bump.. IF we made to match the hood line that bump would have to be there like the JDM eyelid.

as for cutting and matching the amber reflector the round part.. thats a matter of trimming to the shape. or you can get the JDM head light that dont have the amber.. But right now it dont look right becuase it has to be tweaked

So wait, you can't raise the front of the eye lid and match the gap of the hood? Meaning shave off the bottom left corner on the front to be more in line with the hood. The overhang there doesn't look good at all to me, would look much better on the same line as the beginning of the hood. Should be doable since the bump on the headlight doesn't extend all the way to the hood+light area anyways.

If that was able to be done, I would order a set right now.

well if you look at the headlight to make a piece to go over the bump and still have that "optical" look that it's straight is the tricky part. the line on the hood/bumper is in the angle of pointing right to the clear hump on the headlight (little triangle). well maybe there's an easier way but for now this is what we've decided to go with. after some tweaking will post more pics of the eyelids closer to production. so stay tuned.

I dont mind, i like it and its better then nothin. Im pretty sure everyone is still going to purchase a pair even if it doesnt match the body line :P .

as long as it fits on the jdm headlights i'm cool with it. lol.

no that was our first intention to run it lower. but this is the first mold and it somehow did come out higher on the side. anyway that was the first mold with no tweaks. so stay tuned as the fine tuning begins.

Ok guys sorry havent post here in a while.. to add to what Kory has posted..

The Prototype thats on his car wasnt to the fitment it was supposed to be. The eyelid was smaller so we had to make the mold about 1% larger.

WE know about the lines not matching up and as soon as Im finshed sanding the mold we can form the revised version of the eyelid.

There was a reason for not matching the body lines perfectly was becuase of the bump that we eliminated. if was had matched up the lines we wouldnt be able to get rid of that bump.

I know that in the current pics the eyelids dont look right.. but after we did the tweaks it should look like a finshed product for you to decide if this part is for you or not.

WE understand that there will aways be differant tastes and opinons as with any part oout there . Some people like it and some people dont.

Too bad these aren't going to be ready a little sooner, I have a halloween Scion car show to attend on the 25th, would have been nice to have had them on by then, since that will probably be the last show of the season this year for me... :|

ok guys we have the revised mold made and just about ready to pop out the first prototype from the new mold.. This should be it.. once fitted and if it fits right.. it will go into production.. still looking at the end of the month before it ships becuase those of you that ordered it painted.. it still will have to go to the paint shop and that will depend on how fast the paint shop gets it back to us

the other day we ran into a problem with the Vacume table being to small for the new mold and a new base for the table was made..

TO tell you the truth.. the paint shop doesnt put priority on the eyelids due to it really doesnt make them barely any money and it holds up the paint booth for half the day so they normally wait till there is at least 10 eyelids to paint.. For 50.00 bucks a set that was the cheapest place that does quality work.. all the other shops in town wanted close to 100.00 for painting the eyelids and the turn around time would be a day to days.

The paint we havent tried it but its supposed to be able to flex. Its the same paint thats on my 5 axis kit and i pretty much twisted that kit and the paint didnt crack.

Takes about week to get to you.. maybe less

OK... hey, I'm not complaining at all - just very anxious to get them!

Haha, well, knowing my streak of extremely bad luck, like the ordeal I just went through getting my Clazzio seat covers shipped from Japan, my lids will be the only ones that mistakenly get put on a container ship to the mainland rather than flown there... then that ship will set sail to India instead of the US, and then a big Monsoon will sink the boat somewhere off the coast of Bangladesh, and my soggy lids will wash up on the shores of Madagascar sometime next spring... :tongue:

One thing about things comming out of japan.. IT usally shouldnt take that long to get to the USA becuase the only way really is EMS Express Mail Service.. THe thing that takes long is US CUSTOMS.. Like my wheels took only 2 days to ship to Hawaii.. 3 weeks stuck in Customs..

Yep, color's perfect, and they fit snug as a glove! The only thing is, after I put them on as carefully as I could, I noticed there's only about 1/32" clearance between the edge of the lids and the xD's hood on each side (right at the seam between the hood and the front bumper) - talk about close clearance! :relief:

yes i did notice its rather close at that point.. but i havent noticed an issue with clearence yet although its pretty tight... but agreed these fit like a glove.... and my paint match was dead on : ) looking forward to more products from forjworks not sure if i posted these pics here or not but here are some better pics of the car not a camera phone ones : ) wheels look way better in these pics

they change the whole look of the front end makes it look mean : )

Man those wheels look awesome...It's been a long wait to see them mounted up but boy do they look good!

The whole car is looking good! Again, the eyelids are dead on for paint match...

I think they make the xD look sleepy, not mean.
