If I was to put in a turbo, how much life could I expect out of my car? Some people are saying 50,000 miles tops... but that sounds a bit shallow for a toyota? Anybody know anything about it?

Ashe_WCM 12-29-2004, 07:06 PM How long would the tires last? depends on the tire and useage. I figure my Stock tires are going to last me 15K miles or so, of course I dog the hell out of my car. (At least for another 70K miles ;)) dgHotLava 12-29-2004, 07:11 PM If I was to put in a turbo, how much life could I expect out of my car? Anybody know anything about it? it really a loaded question.... how do you plan on driving it??? how much boost are you talking??? what other upgrades to compensate for high HP and boost??? scionkeychains 12-30-2004, 02:22 AM If I was to put in a turbo, how much life could I expect out of my car? ProtoCulture 12-30-2004, 10:41 AM Agreed. Depends on boost. In a low boost situation, you'll have near stock dependability. Simez2003 12-30-2004, 01:15 PM how about with 10-12 psi ? Z34RedSox 01-01-2005, 01:54 AM how much hp is 6 psi unlmtdndeavor 01-01-2005, 02:45 AM psi is just the pressure rating. it does not have a geometric ratio to hp. a lot of other stuff such as what kind of fuel management will also come into play when u raise the pressure. KingLou 01-01-2005, 08:07 AM how much hp is 6 psi That question is hard to answer because so much will affect the actual HP delivered by 6psi of boost......as unlmtd said, fuel management for instance. BUT....a "general" rule of thumb for a correctly done turbo charger is to expect about 8-9 hp per psi (this is usually crank horsepower). So.....for 6 psi, you can expect about 48-54 hp if set up properly. Remember though.......this is HIGHLY generalized, and there can be VAST variation depending on set up. KiL sciontificxb 01-12-2005, 11:18 PM another thing you have to remember is that the stock engine in the xb was not initially designed for a turbo so it will probably add more wear and tear on the engine, just my $.02 squirrel 01-12-2005, 11:56 PM Your xB won't last long if plan on having more than 7 psi. That and the fact that the injectors, and fuel pump won't be able to keep up. The OEM ECU is only good for normally aspirated engines. The code needs to be cracked first, or some sort of system to piggyback it. hotbox05 01-13-2005, 01:47 AM screw fuel , that all can be fixed it's the fact that the rods can only last about 50k on 7 psi if driven hard , they are weak . unfortunatelt, stroke it and use better rods and bam u got reliability there. |
