View Full Version : Anyone here a previous cavalier/sunfire owner?
The01Cav 12-17-2008, 03:42 AM I am wondering if anyone here was a previous cavalier/sunfire owner, and was a forum member of www.j-body.org? I have been on scionlife for a lil while now, and have noticed there are a nicer group of owners here, and not ones like that site that like to bash everyone. It personally at times makes me ashamed to be a j-body owner, and wish I could get into a scion like my girlfriend is. I am actually trying to get started on modding her car now, and slowing down on mine since I have done a fair amount to it.
i had one once 2000 z24 ragtop all stock it was a alright car...
Adorian 12-17-2008, 04:43 PM I know Ekset on here had a really awesome one
scandalous 12-17-2008, 06:26 PM My boyfriend, Matt, is a former (well, he actually still owns it, but it's torn apart) j-body owner. Both he and I are still on the org, though. He's on this site under the SN "ekset"
Here's a couple pics of his Cav in it's hay-day:

The01Cav 12-17-2008, 08:14 PM My main gripe about the site is that they are so fast to bash one another over there. Thats my biggest complaint over all. I guess it's easy to do so behind a keyboard and computer screen though. This site seems to be 100x better than that site is for being respectful.
cavalierkid888 12-18-2008, 12:56 AM I was on the org for a while when I had my cav. Yes this site is a bit better as far as people go. I do miss the cav though...

13edge 12-18-2008, 01:16 AM I've been a member of the j-body.org forum for like a week or less, but I've been checking it out for a few months. Just got my Cav 2 days ago on Monday, after an irritating 4+ month search... just in time to have to work on it in the cold. From what I've seen, most of my questions are already answered there, so thankfully I won't have to post. I go by Carp there.
The01Cav 12-18-2008, 02:17 AM For ones that are members there I go by The01Cav, but my actual username is Sunbirdse86
toeveryhour 12-18-2008, 03:40 AM *shudder* - I had a cav back in the day. i went to college with someone who was on j-body. he was a douche bag.
The01Cav 12-18-2008, 04:45 AM Yeah there are some decent people, then there are alot of tools...
toeveryhour 12-18-2008, 08:14 PM not to bash my people or anything, but the nissan 350z forums are that way too. i rarely post, lol.
nauticac 12-18-2008, 10:48 PM I was a member of www.j-body.org for about 4 years. My name on there is Fugitive. I still have my profile and pics up there. I upgraded to my tC after having a 99 sunfire GT. I remember seeing you over on that forum, glad to see you here!
13edge 12-19-2008, 05:06 AM My first impression of this car is that suspension is going to be easy to install. Tuning the suspension might be a different matter. But man... that engine compartment is tight. My buddy in a gen 1 MR2 was like, 'Damn, you got no room.'
SVicksTC 12-19-2008, 05:11 AM My sister use to own a sunfire does that count ha, but sware ive seen that cavey before are you on any other forums beside j-body.org
And what plans do you have for the girls scion?
What motor work is done to your cav
The01Cav 12-19-2008, 07:13 PM I am on alot of forums, The motor in the cav is pretty much stock other than a intake, high flow cat, and exhaust.
SVicksTC 12-19-2008, 07:15 PM happen to be on Tristatetuners.com i swear ive seen that car before somewhere (did i mention it looks good too :)
PRODIGY3000 12-20-2008, 06:53 AM Buddy in highschool had a black 2 door and tried to supe it up. Ex-gf had a white 4 door. God they were awful cars.
a_german_named_hans 12-20-2008, 07:18 AM Buddy of mine has a sunfire. Things surprisingly quick. Met the kid on the road by my school. He reved his motor, I just laughed at first. Then after a bit got annoyed, dropped a gear and floored it. Next thing I knew, guy was next to me and pullin. i just watched him in shock as he went by.
silverstreaktc 12-20-2008, 06:37 PM my girl had a sunfire. faster than my old eclipse gs but can't touch my tc :)
The01Cav 12-21-2008, 05:03 AM You have to watch out for sunfire gt's and 00-02 Z24's GM has a supercharger kit for the 2.4L as well as the 02-05 ecotec cavaliers and sunfires. The eco uses the cobalt ss/sc M62 eaton blower. the 2.4L uses the M45 eaton blower
Nastos 12-21-2008, 05:07 AM i had an 84 cavie bright pink lol
13edge 12-21-2008, 06:47 AM So has anyone here tried the Koni suspension and the KYB AGX suspension? I've got zero experience with KYB, but for the price, it seems almost worthwhile to make the mistake of getting them. Any thoughts or impressions?
The01Cav 12-21-2008, 08:25 PM the koni suspension is nice, but for the j's you have to acutally cut the struts because the front is just a insert. I have heard of people running AGX's with sportlines and being okay. But the AGX's work really good being paired up with H&R sport springs or Eibach Pro-Kit springs.
13edge 12-21-2008, 11:59 PM Yeah, I've done the cutting of struts for Koni's before. It's why I think I'm going to take the risk of AGX. Without a drill press available, I don't have the patience for Koni's. And Pro-Kits are good enough. Not wanting too big a drop. Thanks.
Obsoletepunk04 12-22-2008, 12:03 AM I did have a Silver 83' four dr. Cavie. AM radio and all. Sweet ride until it got rearended from a full conversion van at 50 mph. Lets just say the trunk was in the backseat.
Macavely 12-22-2008, 12:12 AM I was an owner of a sunfire for about 4months. back in 2001. it was an ok car, till they day one of my rods flow throw the block. I wasn't a member of that site. but yea this is a very good site.
toeveryhour 12-22-2008, 01:18 AM LOL, i am embarrassed, but here is my cav from back in the day
