Default K&N Typhoon Question, and another small one (UPDATE 1/2)

Hello all,

This question is for those that have the typhoon intake on their xB's. My question is how is it holding up after your use with it? The reason I ask is because I'm kinda lost on whether to buy the Injen or the K&N filter. The Injen has the filter for the breather hose, whereas the K&N doesn't, and I don't want my MAF to get contaminated. So guess my real question is those that own the Typhoon, have they had any troubles with their MAF sensors being contaminated after long use? Or am I being overly cautious?

Also my second question is, I'm going to order floor mats finally for my xB, and I'm gonna get mines from sparks and I wanted to know if they came with the hooks to hold them in place? Or do I have to buy them separately?

Thanks for the help in advance.... and oh yeah I did use the search button.

Update: Hey thanks everybody for the help in this thread. I installed the intake today took longer than I wanted, but it was fun and worth it.

For those that have it installed on theirs what did you guys/gals do about the hose that came with the intake? It seems to be too long and looks like its close to bending the way I have it connected to the hose from the engine.

I was thinking of cutting it to make it easier on the hose, anybody do that? It works fine as it is, I get the cool shhhroooosh sound when i turn the car off, but that hose is what's worrying me now.

Anybody cut their hose down?

I have a K&N CAI, not sure if it's called 'TYPHOON' or not.

The only problem I have is that I have to reset my MAF about monthly due to the 3 indicator lights coming on. Not sure which they are anymore, but TRAC and 2 others.

Pull the fuses for about 5 minutes and it's good for another month or so.

The only thing that upsets me is that K&N won't respond to my requests for any information or fixes...

If I had it to do again, I'd just get the Fujita, though more expensive, I haven't seen any complaints about reseting fuel injection on here for people who have them...

I dunno. I had the Fujita... it was a great piece. The vent is there and it's actually after the MAF, so it's not going to foul it.

Have a friend that has been running the K&N Typhoon for a couple years now with no problems.

The mats from TRDSparks should come with the tabs.

^^^ Oh cool thanks everybody, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Hey Biggs17, how long after you installed the Intake did you have to start resetting? It doesn't seem a huge deal to keep resetting, but hey I'd rather not worry about it at all. hmmm i wonder if you can buy a breather hose filter separately.

You shouldn't have to reset anything. Something is wrong there.

Agreed, there is a problem there. You shouldn't have to reset anything. I have had the Typhoon for over a year with no problems.

Hey thanks for the heads up everybody! It seems like it's a good purchase, and the MAF sensor contamination isn't much of an issue. I went on eBay, and I found one for 180 so I'm pretty satisfied.(FARRxB)
