Default Supercharger with BOV? Im confused on this, help?

Ok so I think I might be getting a supercharger for Xmas(i pray) and I know that superchargers dont have blow off valves, they have bypass valves that recirculates the air to the MAF's to regulate AFR's or something along that line. I was on youtube and there are people with BOV's on there supercharger and I dont understand if its safe and what all you have to do to, to get the engine running the way you want it with a BOV. I love the sound of a BOV its enough to make a man hard but all i really wanna know is what all you have to do to add a BOV and have your engine running fine. IS IT SAFE. Ill just buy a SC condom.

it is safe, i had it on mine, but you need a tune with a piggyback or standalone because it will run lean at times with it...i'm sellin my complete set up once it's rebuilt (hopefully sooner than later since this has taken a long time) if ur interested...it has a custom CAI with BOV and 9.5 lb pulley

a centrifugal super charger can use a blow off valve since it uses the "snail" portion versus a roots type which would use a bypass valve.

i don't get it, a bov is used so the turbo turbine doesn't spin backwards. i'm trying to picture a belt driven charger spinning backwards...i'm lost?

A BOV is used to prevent compression surge

correct, which results in spinning the turbine backwards instantly...which isn't healthy for a turbo's life expectancy. i've always been a turbo guy, never boosted with a supercharger so i'm just gonna subscribe to the thread so i can understand the supercharger/bov thing also.

definately consider saving up and getting a turbo, thats the route i choose, there are many people that have had horrible problems with it. vulcanturbo makes a kit (the one i have) its very very good, great price and amazing power

Ahh when i posted i wasnt even thinking i just saw the spin backwards thing and was like huh, but then realized essentially that is compression surge haha

The s/c is faulty is a turd and thats a know fact. I have one i speak from experience. What hole? You dont' need to cut any holes if you get a 1" bov. I meant the s/c is a dud in general not that the bov will break it.

They are possibly better, still too early to tell. Op didn't mention if he has an 08 or newer though. Cause all the 05-06 are the same, TRD is still selling their defective stock.
