im sorry if this is a re-post of a dead one...
but i have been looking in the forums and have not found any
i was just wondering if its safe to use the original header
gasket and the original doughnut if i install an aftermarket header?
i will be purchasing a DC header (used) and im just wondering
if i can use the original gaskets?
also if i do have to purchase them....
how much do they go for???
thanks guys....

im sure you can but i would not just to be safe unless you have very low miles...just go to the dealer and get the oem ...

That new header should come with two flat gaskets.
Inspect that doughnut gasket. If you see any scoring or black burn marks, do not re-use it. How many miles? I re-used my doughnut gasket after 60,000 miles.
No leaks or squeeks with the cheap e-bay header that I installed.

I put my header on with 45,000 miles and reused the dougnut gasket with out any problems.
Just a warning the 2 bolts at the bottom where the header and exhaust meet can be a pain in the hinder to break loose.

all right!! with enough WD40 and enough muscle the bolts came loose.
and now everything is all done, i also used the same doughnut
and the same gasket, i inspecgted them and they looked perfectly fine to me. checked for any leaks, so far none.
went for a test drive, and everything went smooth. car feels a little better
and a little quicker. much quicker at higher rpm's.
i will also be moving the shifter cables away.
as i looked inside one of the cables is awfully close to the header.
even if the dc header is ceramic coated i will sleep better with it away.
and i got like 60,xxx miles on the xb...
so i figured re-using the same gasket and doughnut should be fine.
use exhaust header wrap on the shifter cables then you won't need to move 'em out of the way
thats the way i've done it and its still going strong

Yes, that's it.
Rock Auto is an excellent source, but it's not a bad idea to check with your local O'Reiley's/AutoZone/Advance because they may have it for about the same price without having to do shipping. It's $8.99 at my local Advance.

WOW-thanks for the confirmation and that price is really great!
I really don't have anything like that around me.
Not to be sarcastic but the nearest Autozone is really not worth my time.
No one speaks english. I mean it. Pep Boys makes me want to scream too.
It can be very fustrating. I like Straus Auto. Not too bad with the english.

I always enjoy going to places like KFC and McDonalds when my family and I travel down south. We love southern hospitality. We are very low key, respectful and don't want to seem like east coast jerks. We always love the first stop past the Mason Dixon line. Really something....lots of fun. Our accents are pretty neutral too.
So nobody cares.
Around here it can be fustrating with the english barrier.
Not all the time but a larger portion of the time.
I am sure they are hard workers but sometimes people are so beat down it can be very sad. No one else wants the job.
