Default XD Headlight Mod.(xenon projector)

It took me 3days to finish this headlight retrofit. I bought a pair of E46 Projectors($75), 6000k HID kit($100), Shrouds($25), bolts and screws($15), Solenoid Controller($25), Halo lights($30). Mounting the projector is such a pain in the ___, coz you need to align it to make the cut off straight. It looks crooked if you look at it closely but im pretty satisfied with the outcome and its really not bad for my first time doing retrofit.

MY PREVIOUS HEADLIGHT( removed this blue lights coz my car became a police magnet and got a ticket for it)

it is custom. costs me around $300. its time and $$$$ consuming. so if you have doing retro on your xd, be sure to research enough info before buying and starting the project. it will cost you less money and frustration. fell free to PM me if you want some info.

I dont think there's a ready made kit for scion xd yet. maybe sooner or later they will, coz there's already aftermarket tail lights for XDs.

Thanks man.. yeah.. i dont have the money or time to throw down for that right now, but thanks for the offer on the help.

Do you know how hard it is to wire the fog lights from trdsparks.com before i make a new thread?

well, my foglights are custom as well and its pretty easy to do the wirings and stuff. from what i can see on the trdsparks, it already comes with a ready made wires so thats prolly easy to install. and it would be much easier if it comes with the panel cover, so you dont have to worry about aiming and positioning the lamp.

I'd rather get a projector fog lights and H3 HID kit. that would be cheaper than getting that ready made from trdsparks and it would look better IMO. and $160?! thats too much for a pair of fog lights bro.

basically, im comparing Halogen and Xenon HID lights which is way brighter than a Halogen.and instead of reflectors we'll use a projector that works the same as a reflector but projector distributes the light more evenly. The only problem about choosing Projector fog lights is that it will cause a lot of work and it can drain your battery fast if you turn on the lights without the engine on.

BUT KEEP IN MIND!!!! that if you're having trouble driving at night and its raining DONT GET THE HID kit . because its harder to see with those kind of lights whenever the road is wet. but if you insist, just go with the low light temperature bulb around 4000k.

I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to do it myself, but I don't know where you get the parts so friggen cheap! Everywhere I look it would cost around $500 for all the parts... It'll be a while though, cause I start a new job in January and my girlfriend and I our expecting a baby in July! But $300, I think I could swing that before the baby is born...

its actually scary at first but after I opened the first headlight the second one is like piece of cake. be sure nobodys home if you plan on doing this because my mom got ____ed off at me baking those headlights. she was like ,"are you out of your mind?! Why would you bake you headlights?! "

I got lucky with my projector coz there's an auction on ebay that the starting bid is 40 w/ free shipping. then i raised my bid up to 70 and my max is 100 so nobody tried to outbid me.. lol..there's a seller on ebay "oem_xenon_parts" whose selling a pair of projectors for $70 plus shipping. I got almost everything on ebay. hey dude, if you decided to do retro on yours too, just let me know.

Nice job on the retro, I'd change out the 6000k bulbs for some 4300k ones for better lighting.
