Default Greddy Turbo Idle Problem

Well guy’s I’m sure you have seen this question a million times but I can’t seem to find the thread on this........ I’ve had the car boosting for about 4,500 miles now and today when I went for a drive the car started to idle really low like at 500 rpm or lower, when I’m getting to the light and press the clutch the car shuts off, now I’ve reset the ECU and nothing still the same, I looked at my plugs and they seem to be fine (im sure I need to change them anyway) what I did notice is that the MAF sensor is a bit dusty could this be the issue?? mine did that when had a turbo, it was my mass air flow sensor that went out, its like a $300 fix, you can take it to a shop and have them check the mass air flow sensor

Is there a way to clean the MAS, like what to use?

no, my mechanic told me it doesn't fix the problem by cleaning it, and he said toyotas are knowen for the sensors to go out

going to have to check the codes to see what it's saying.... Hey wait I don't have a way of doing that LOL is there a gadget I could buy for that?

mine went bad too.

-VSC
-TRACTION CONTROLL OFF
-ENGINE CHECK

all those lights came on with it. its pricy so see if you can buy one online first (ebay or something) it would save you alot

Mine are off , I have had them on before but took care of the problem with a reset

CRC makes a MAF sensor cleaner you can give it a shot just pick up a can at your local auto store. Be sure to check all your vacuum lines and if your running a BOV make sure it's not leaking at idle as that can cause a stall.

Thanks I will try the CRC..... As far as the vacuum leak, sounds like a good idea I've noticed when I let of the throttle and let the car coast I hear I whistle coming from the front. In my 91 CRX I used to spray starter fluid on the vacuum hoses while the car was idling and the car would shutter when it would get in the hose, would that work the same in this case

Inspect all of the silicon intercooler couplers. Check for cracks and/or leaks. My original GReddy couplers were completely cracked after a year of use. I swapped them out with new www.turbohoses,com couplers.

Think I found the problem.... these are the reasons that buying crap used sucks. I was at work today showing my friend the kit and how the pipes run and noticed the BOV weld is loose; I’m really guessing that might be my problem

300 dollars!!! i got one from advnced for 110

and yes u can clean the maf go to your local auto store and ask the dude behind the counter where they keep their maf cleaner always a good idea to try cleaning it before replacing it

also go to a place that will give u a read out of your code for free no need to buy your own scanner places are dieing to tell u what the prob is in hope of selling you the part to fix it

well I got the problem half fixed lol I got the BOV rewelded, now the car doesn’t shut off but it still idles a bit low like 500- 700 RPM the only coupling I haven’t look at are the intercooler ones, just haven’t had time to take the bumper off

Is your BOV recirculating or atmospheric dump?

Are you running emanage blue or ultimate?

A buddy had hecka problems with idle and stalling when coming off throttle with both a Greddy RS & S on his xB, swapped out to the HKS-SSQV and done deal!

A common issue with our engines and some others is this stalling issue you described.

This has been pinpointed to a few issues but the most common and most dominant issue has been an atmospheric dump BOV and not using the engine anti-stall feature of emanage.

If you do not have this feature activated on emanage you can do two things:

1. Activate and tune the anti-stall system and this will solve the problem

2. Set up your BOV for recirculation back into the intake system (works with most BOV but the HKS SSQV)
