Yeah, It's been a while since you've seen a thread from me. In the mean time I've done a few modifications that I think are pretty cool and that might be new.

I don't have pictures of everything right now, but I will (just you wait!)

Without further ado, here's what I've done since I last checked in.

Where did you mount the iPod interface seen in the bottom pic? Also, how big is it, couldn't tell from Alpine's site.

Redneck: The glovebox light is one 12" cold cathode attached at the very front of the ledge above the glovebox. I drilled 2 little holes and zip-tied it on. My dashboard lighting consists of air condtioning vent LED lights, 1 LED light in the ashtray, EL-tape lights under the dash overhang, and a 6" cathode in that box in the dashboard.

The iPod interface is mounted in the glovebox with velcro. It's about 6" square and maybe 1.25" tall.

Ok those are awsome. I am a neon freak..... question how did you paint those things white? I would like to do it But don't really know how

nice.......real nice.

I just used Rustoleum for plastic to paint those things white. It works well, but I would advise against painting the speedometer surround and the speaker grills because they tend to glare on the windshield.

The umbrella holder is freaking sweet, just wait until I get pictures up.

On the knobs for temperature, fan speed, etc, it looks like you have a green LED for the knob in addition to the surrounding area. Is this the case? Do they have their own LEDs or is it a common one or ones which illuminate the entire area?

They have little translucent pieces that pop out. You can change the color of those with bulb covers, but I'm going to do LEDs in there eventually.

My KCA420i is just sitting behid the HU it is pretty small maybe 4 inches square. If you have a lot of music I wouldn't suggest it. I hate that damn thing. It is way too slow. I am moving on to a carputer now. Just waiting to come up with some ideas of how to mount everything and my carputer will be in.

I do want something more as far as HU goes, and I have a 40 gig iPod and I really doubt I'll be going the route of carputer any time soon, seems like a little bit too much work as far as syncing goes. For now I am happy with my iTrip.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

The iPod thing isn't the greatest, scrolling through the artists and albums is really arduous. I just made playlists of the albums I listen to a lot and titled them like this:

Beas: Hello Nasty
Beas: To the 5 Boroughs
Cake: Comfort Eagle
Cake Motorcade of Generosity

This way I can scroll through the things I actually listen to without much trouble.

I was seriously considering getting an iPod dock and running the line out to the auxillary inputs on the headunit and running the car charger to the dock port, but it would have ended up being something like $20 more to get the alpine thing, so I sprung for it.

Actually I really like the umbrella holder. I like the larger umbrellas but there is not a good place to keep it with the sub. What did you use for it? Is it just some straps with snap buttons? I am consider doing this to mine.

I really like the white in the interior and don't think it matters what the exterior color is. Is the finish on the paint good quality?

Thanks for all the compliments. The umbrella holder is just snaps and straps, I was inspired by one I saw in a bentley at the car stereo installers.

I don't mind the flower umbrella being flamer city. What's the use of being ___ if you can't floss the flowery umbrellas once in a while?

The finish on the paint is good, but not body-shop quality. I'd give it a B+ because there are a few small imperfections, but you have to be looking for them to notice them.

I chose white because I like the contrast with the black.

Tails are done with black paint inside and clearguard overlays. EL tape should be available at svc.com or something like it.

Thanks for all the compliments.
