I'm going to go check tommorrow how many miles are on it and how new it seems to be on the inside. Does anyone think buying one thats been sitting on the lot is a bad idea? Also, should I decide to do it, is it possible to take it home that day? Or does all the paperwork and stuff take multiple days. Thanks!

I bought mine off the lot. Went in for my 30k servicing on my 03 Matrix XR, took a test drive and decided to trade that day. 12K in trade 3000 cash and I left 3 hours later.

My BCP only had 25 miles on it.

Is this a new xB that's in dealer inventory or a used one? If it's new, you've got nothing to worry about unless it's been test-driven to death by people beating it. I seriously doubt that's the case. You'll avoid having to wait for one to arrive that you've ordered. If it's a used one, you'll need to decide if they're giving you a good enough deal on it. They are locked in on new Scion prices, but on a used one, you can deal. If they say they can't, walk away.

Most dealers have trac (demo) cars that they use for test drives. That way the new ones stay new and they rack up the miles on the demo's. You shouldnt have any problems. Even if a car has 100+ miles on it, it doesnt mean that it's been on a bunch of test drives. Check the bottom of the window sticker and see if it was originally shipped to the dealer your at. Cars are routinely shuffled between dealers. Good luck!!~

When I went shopping for my xA, the dealer had a "demo" xA on the lot, just like you mentioned. The problem was, it was lowered and it had the TRD rim package on it. I don't remember which size, but they were at least 17" (possibly 18s). I knew that I wouldn't be lowering my car and I wouldn't go any bigger than 16s, so I wanted to drive a "normal" xA to get a better idea of how my car would feel. I test drove a stock xA in blue, and a RS 1, but I ordered a Phantom Grey. That RS 1 is still on the lot, and it gets loads of test drives.

What you have to remember is that not everyone "beats the hell out of the car" on the test drives. Most people that I take on test drives are very easy on the cars, Especially the xA and the xB. Your fine if you buy one off the lot.

Same here. 99% of the people I take on test drives are affraid to drive it normally. They seem to think that if they accelerate too fast or brake too hard I'll call the cops or beat them up or something. :roll:

I figure it's either going to be my car, or someone else's, and I wouldn't want to buy a brand new car that's been beat. It's a common courtesy, respect kinda thing.

X2. If it isn't yours, you should treat it well. If it IS yours, you should treat it even better.

I bought my xB off the dealer's lot this past Monday. It had 22 miles on it and considering that the salesman accompanies perspective buyers and directs them on a short circuit "around the block", I had no fears of it being abused.

Yeah, and that's what the warranty is for too. If they beat it so bad that it did damage, it'll show. It's rare that you may damage something in the first 100 miles that wouldn't develop into an actual problem for another 35,900 miles...

Having cars on the lot for immediate sale isn't that outlandish of an idea, I've seen a few dealerships that work in that fashion... ;)
