Default CAR vs GF/Parents

i just have to vent i guess but why is it that our loved ones dont understand our passion for tuning, and moding cars. they dont understand that its a part of our lives.

just this morning my GF is yelling at me that i order to many car parts and dont even have time to / or know how to install them.

I want to pick up a turbo kit but how do i hide that from her.
I am for once in a place where i can be able to do it without hurting my cash flow.

ahhhhhhhhh

You can "hide" that turbo kit in my garage.

It's okay man, none of my family or friends understand my obsession either.

you are with the wrong girl and you need to split. you should never have to hide anything or second guess what you want to buy. now if you are sharing accounts that is different story.

That or trade her in for another girl thats into imports.

My girlfriend naggs that I buy to many parts for my car instead of hers. Its awful. I get halo headlights, and she thinks she needs new headlights.

i can tell you from experience... gf's nags becuase they know that the value of a car depreciates and that one day, a car will break down, or get traded in, and the part(s) and labor that you put into that car means close to nothing. your gf is in the state of mind that she wants to see ahead (the future for both of you)... its fine to buy parts for your car, but do it both ways... give her gifts and stuff at the same time, you are saving some money for you guys' future and saving some money for your car. this way, she doesnt have anything to say about you buying parts for your car.

seanstc1: maybe becuase shes greedy and wants you spend the money on her, tell her to kiss your butt.
i beg to differ... if she was greedy, she wouldve told her bf to buy her things that she wants and not needs. she wouldnt care what you do to your car or if you are in knee deep of debt that she still wants you to buy her stuff.

basically, your gf just wants whats best for the both of you in your future and she knows that car's value depreciate and dont hold their value that much. unless you own an exotic car, then thats a different story. it is true on what they say, girls tend to think more maturely than boys.

Get her something nice too. Fact is, if she can't understand your hobbies, maybe it's time to reevaluate the relationship.
I'm lucky in that my girlfriend is supportive of my hobbies (even if she doesn't always understand)
The important thing is give and take. If you're spending all of your time in the garage, I can understand your frustration. Take her out, show her a good time. Make her feel like an important part of your life and then SPOOL!

I think if you tell her buying car parts is better than sitting in a bar and drinking the money away>
