Default I Need More HP.....What Are My Options? Any Help Is Great!!

Ok, I have a post in the general forum discussing if I should keep my tc or not. I'm looking for more power in the car. I love the look of the Tc, I like how it handles....Just missing that power off the jump!

I'm in no way a racer or want to race my car. I just love to bypass people sometimes while driving. I'm not looking for 400+ Hp by any means. I would be happy with 200-250 Hp.

My questions are: What are some ways to get me to that HP i want? Is turbo an option? Anything to add to the engine to get me more?

I'm not one who's into to modding, but I have a curious side. The reason I want to do this is because my friend just purchased a Honda Civic SI. Wow, that thing is fast. I believe he said it pushes 197 HP If I'm not mistaken.

What would be the cost for these modifications? A turbo? Can anybody lend a helping hand and steer me in the right direction?

Also, not looking to put alot of money in doing this little project. I have around $5k to put into it, plus other goodies I would like to put in to the car. I would be If you guys can help me on this.

For 5k, turbo is the way to go. Look at the sponsors of this forum and search for those topics to figure out which one you would be happiest with. Just remember on top of the turbo price, you'll have the install price (unless you do it yourself) and you'll have to pay to get it tuned.

turbo can be done...$5k should be enough...you could probably still beat an si without it if you get headers, s pipe, cat-back exhaust, cold air intake, lightwieght pulleys...the second route would be much cheaper...but nowhere near the hp gains...if you don't want to go turbo pm me i have some non turbo parts i'm sellin since i have a turbo comin

turbo if u want some power...itll give u the 200-250 plus some. intake headders exaust the trd charger will give u 200-205 hp.. thats a little price for only 40 hp plus its had its problems. turbos are gonna gonna cost a little more i think a nice kit is around 4300 but thats gonna give u close to 300 hp.. yes the si is quick. i wouldnt say fast. although if u only put the trd charger on itll be able to run with the SI but im not sure if it can or would beat it.. but if u boosted you will deff run with it and beat it. pm if any questions..

I am looking for cheaper...however, what type of HP gain would that get me? Like I mentioned before, I'm not looking to go crazy, just want some more take off power and power in general. What type of HP gain would turbo get you?

i think he'd beat an si with supercharger...i've beat a few si's with just an axle-back, cold air intake, lightened pulleys, and of course getting off the line good

headers, s pipe, cat-back exhaust, cold air intake, lightwieght pulleys would put you at around 160-170 at the wheels so around 180-190hp at the crank(how the si's is messured)

How much would that run about? I hope cheaper then the $4300 price tag for the turbo.

So your two choices is turbo, or charger. In your case, and for less then 5k i would go charger from the dealership, and upgrade the pulley. this is only MO. I on the other hand went turbo. If your leaning towards that i would recommend Dezod. Love my kit.

You can get the headers/exhaust/intake/pulleys for well under 4300, especially if you install yourself. Look under the sponsors section for good deals.... turbo might not be a bad option with 5k to play with. There are mannny options out there man. Research research research

I think ultimately man its what you want the end result to be... I read in the initial post that you just wanted something a little more powerful to bypass people. If you go with the turbo, great... it the best way to add a great amount of power, but please do the research and dont go dump a bunch of money, then not have the funds or knowledge to upkeep it.

Thats the thing....I was just looking at the charger on Scion.com.....It states a 25% more HP gain and 13% torque gain. That puts me around the 200 mark. Which I would be satisfied with. Plus it's alot cheaper! Anyway, what is the problem with the charger? Is it you guys need more HP?
