i posted this before about which wire is the remote wire in the hot lava edition xD. i called the dealership and he looked up the wire diagram and told me it is the black wire. everybody here said try the blue wire. so i used black and subs work but only for the radio, cd player and ipod plays through the normal speakers. anybody else have this issue or have a better idea which ire to use

Ever used a Digital MultiMeter? Test the wires to find out which is the accessory turn=on wire, usually in toyotas it is the Yellow one. This should give you the same effect that an aftermarket radio would have with the blue remote wire. Black wires are usually the grounds by the way, so be careful when you wire into those.

that is what i thought with the black wire as ground, but with the tech at the dealership telling me it was remote i figured it was reliable. ive never really used a multimeter, i kno how in theory i guess just not 100% sure wht to look for

The xD does not have a dedicated remote on lead. The guy at the dealership was somewhat right on the black wire. I had this same problem when I installed my amp in my xD. The 10 pin connector for the stereo houses this black wire. It is actually the amp on signal for the radio antenna amplifier, however it only turns on with the radio and nothing else. You need to use the gray accessory on wire in this same 10 pin connector. Granted, when the key is in ACC, the amp is always on, so you may want to add a bypass switch or something like that if you want to have full control. I also have the Scion xD EWD book, so if you have any other questions, let me know.
