Hello all im currently working with a company to have rear camber shims made. Im looking to see the interest in -3 camber plates for the rear hub.. These will be just like the otg's... Price point is at about 190 for the set.. these will be as toe corrected as possible....

well its not a company so to speak but an individual.... he is big in the scion scene and has the ability to get these done... he has made camber shims for first gen and xa... no problems toe is near perfect... and wants to broaden the lineup and make these for the xd and yaris.... dont worry its not evolved concepts haha

NOOB QUESTION ALERT
what exactly does negative camber do for me at the rear hub?

a small negative camber setting can be beneficial when facing camber thrust, which occurs when, while turning, your wheels (in our case) will want to lean to a certain direction, causing you to drive misaligned. so a LITTLE camber can fix this, but this mainly happens, and is most noticeable with a lowered car.

at least thats how i learned it :D

tilts the top of the tire inward, more noticeable on cars with independent rear suspension, not on axle beam like our cars have.

if thats what he meant when he asked then i was way too technical...lol..

both answers were excellent, thanks.
Does doing something like this to your car mess up your alignment?
Is there any additional tire wear when you're just driving straight?
Can you feel the effects of this mod when driving straight, or do you only feel the effect when cornering?
sorry, just trying to wrap my mind around this, i've heard of adjusting camber before, but never really understood tuning it.

finally, is this kind of a nitpicky mod, or will it be very noticeable?

well there will be some increased tire wear on the inside of the tire... however its not much worse than regular.... i have about 15000 miles on my tires and they have been cambered since i got them.... and they still have alot of treadlife.... the camber will not eat your tires its the toe+camber combo that owns your tires. the camber plates im referring to will be toe corrected.. i have had camber since i got my scion and i love the whey it feels in the turns.... i have run -3 -5 and -8 degrees... -3 is where you will get the best results anything past that is just for show or race cars...

I had the OTG camber shims on my xB and I autocrossed with it. They were -3 degree. Here is an excellent pic of the back of my xB during a sharp turn. Kind of an idea of what the camber does for this kind of situation.

Notice how the back left wheel is almost straight up and down.

not any time soon.. there doesnt seem to be any interest in these between xd/yaris.. so they have been shelved for now... maybe in the future...

Do you have any pictures of what these look like?

no surprise there is no interest. besides Katch, who else runs rims that poke outside the rear fenders anyway? not me. toe correction won;t benefit this car anyway. I little toe in will keep it steady and thats fine by me

yah well... i was hoping maybe people would mod these like the first gen xb... by toe correct i mean that the shims would not throw the tow out of whack like some companies do such as evolved concepts... but will keep the toe within factory standards...

seems the new buyers aren;t very mod friendly.

which is highly unfortunate....gives those interested in modding less options (especially those without the resources to fab their own parts.)
