View Full Version : TRD Quick Shifter
itzjere 01-02-2005, 03:41 AM Wondering if anyone has the TRD Quickshifter installed, the one that is an avalible option from the dealer. If so, how do you like it? Did it come with the TRD leather wrapped shift knob, or the TRD ball-like knob?
Pictures would be nice to see the height change.
VIET_BOX 01-02-2005, 03:47 AM I have it. I think its a waste of money. Barly notice any difference. It comes wit a ball shift knob, which doesnt look good at all.

ya i took the ball off it was too tiny, and put the old one back on
EVILDAVE 01-03-2005, 03:10 PM Get the TWM shifter if you want a good one!
JUMBO 01-03-2005, 03:25 PM We put the TRD Quickshifter in our Hot Lava xB last week, and I think that it is a definite improvement over stock. We still have the TRD leather shift ball on it, but that will probably change.
We also put the TRD Clutch Kit on it, and that made a real difference, too.

That's sort of misleading. There is a definite difference, but whether that is an "improvement" is up to you. I drove on the stock shifter for about 5K miles. When I first got it, I hated the shifter because it felt like a truck, but after a while I forgot about it and just got used to it. With the TRD Quickshifter, I didn't feel much of a decrease in the throw, but the shift feels more defined to me.
So... I guess the moral of the story is... how much do you hate your current shifter? The TWM or the Perrin short shifter looks a lot better for the price, but I got the TRD because I got a big discount. :D
itzjere 01-03-2005, 07:00 PM Thanks for all your input everyone. I think I'm gonna go with the TWM shifter. I saw some pictures of the height and I like it. The other reason why I considered the quickshifter cus I thought it would come with the leather wrapped TRD shifter, the normal lookin one, not the ball. But since it's not the one I want, I'm gonna go TWM.
Thanks all.
Maicca 01-03-2005, 07:37 PM Anyone have links for the TWM or Perrin shifters?
I can't find any mention of the Perrin shifter on their site, nor any dealers. :(

The dealer does not offer TWM or Perrin shifters. They just have their TRD one. TWM and Perrin are aftermarket companies.
squirrel 01-03-2005, 08:13 PM I have the TRD shifter ONLY because it was the only thing available at the time (over a year ago). Yes, its at a different height and the shifting does seem alot better over stock, but the shift knob itself is a waste.
I've felt the TWM shifter and its nice, and I have also seen the one offered by Randode and a few other ones by peeps. They are equally as nice.
The best suggestion, find one of each and see if the owner will let you dirve their car around the block.
Maicca 01-04-2005, 02:33 PM $169 for the Perrin short shifter? Ooooph... I guess because it's adjustable?
My last short shifter was $79 for the shifter + new bushings :D
i want to make my shifter even longer some thing up to the middle of the windshild-ish with a kick ___ shift knob on top
man thats so old school hotrod
BoostedRex 01-07-2005, 04:46 PM How much farther down than stock do the TWM and TRD shifters sit? I don't want to have to reach way down just to shift gears. Any info and especially pix would be greatly appreciated.

itzjere 01-07-2005, 07:22 PM There is a picture of the TWM in an xA in the FAQ under the boot shift thread. Its about 2.5" - 3.0" lower than stock. Quiet a considerable "drop".
