thanks! are resistors a necessity? or will they work without changing it?

They are required for all HVAC swaps if you want to go White, Blue or Green.

If you are going Red, then they are not required.

is it cause the blue white or green needs lower ohm resistors on there?

Blue, white, green LED has Typical Vf(V) of 3.0
And red and amber has 1.8

what if you didnt change the resistors, will they stil work? if you put blue

It will work but they will be hideously dim.
