I paid Lemon Grove Toyota in San Diego $645 for an alarm system on my Xa when I bought it, They told me its the factory installed alarm.... I was looking on ebay for additional scion remote.... and turns out, I have the Karr remote and there's a "Scion"
remotes...
Now..... Did I get jipped for paying $645 for an aftermaket alarm system???

Sorry to say...i think the factory alarms are a rip off...yes and i believe they are made from karr.
Scion tried to get me to buy it, but i refused cause i know you can get aftermarket ones that are better for a cheaper price...which i ended up doing.

Yeah I got that system on my XA too, but now all of a sudden it stopped working, after I washed the car!!!! Does anyone know if there is a fuse that possibly popped, or do I have to take it to the dealer to get it fixed. It ____es me off because in the morning before I washed the damn car it worked and after I washed it, it was over. Anyone know any possible solutions for this crap!!!!

It's not the toyota factory alarm system. It's a company that installs it on GM honda ect.. Do a google search on Karr alarm systems. Here's Karrs web site link http://www.karrsecurity.com/
FYI, the toyota factory is a almost plug n play. Connectors plug in, except one that you have to remove and replace a single pin.
i paid around 200 dollars for my OEM alarm and installed it my self

sorry, but you got ripped off. don't know why you paid over 600 dollars for that security system when the OEM one retails for 319 dollars.
next, scion security is fine for people who don't live in the ghetto. car alarms are just a theft deterrent anyway, they don't do anything to actually prevent your car from being damaged or stolen. why people are so OCD about them i'll never know. i've been happy with scion security for 5 years now.
oh, and i love it when i start up my car and some loser with an aftermarket alarm parked near me is set off merely by the sound of my exhaust.
