Default tC Dilema...

So in September my mom totalled our g35.
She will be returning to work hopefully by mid Febuary.
But now were down to 2 cars. My dads Pacifica and my tC.
And shes gonna need something to drive.
So in conclusion. She might end of driving the pacifica and my dad will drive me car.
I have like 3K in Savings as of today,
So therefore leaving me 2 look for another car.
Theres the good/bads to getting rid of my tC

Pro's
NO CAR PAYMENT(meaning my name will be completely off the Loan)
Dont have to worry so much about crashing a car that i owe money on. Cu i weekly touge.

Con's
It's my baby
New car means old car which means more possible problems.
my tC has 34,000 miles on her VS something that has double or triple that.

MY heart is in the Touge Runs.
I've been looking at Datsun Z's. Like a 1974
MR2 is pretty sick aswell or a second generation mr2 sw20/21.. my gf is bying a 2202 mr2 spyder. thinking it would be cool 2 have same car but differnt year
...Miata
maybe a 240sx with a SR Motor
Its a stretch but if i can find something for like 2k and use the other 1k to Buff

Feedback.HELP.oppinions
or if anyone knows anything about some good deals

for 3k you will still be stuck with some kind of a loan for most of the cars you listed. You might get lucky with a miata or a MK1 MR2..but good luck finding a car remotely reliable within your price range and cars you listed

i've been looking at alot of stuff. and have found alot of cars in that price range. Im not looking for a car thats heavily modded. i can do most of my work.

The shole idea is too get out of a car payment. bite the bullet for 1year. turn around and have a huge down payment for something neew and nice

Why do you have to get rid of the tC? Why doesn't your mom just get a new car instead of you?

Were in the process of opening a new bizness.( Lee's Sandwich)...Coming April09 Next to South Coast Plaza in OC,CA

My dad is sticking to his asian ways and not wanting 2 waste money. so he rather have me buy something else. cuz he knows i want out of a car payment. he basically dosent want anything else under his name.(2 house and 2 cars and biz) is enough he says

Yeah but I don't understand why youre the one who's obligated to get rid of your car, given you're paying for it yourself completely. Why does the car have to be under your dad's name? Your mom doesn't have the credit to purchase a car herself? If your dad doesn't want anything under his name, your mom should be able to do it.

cars are cars
a car is what u make of it.

Its not that im obligated. its that i want 2 get out of a car payment.

and a hooptie is in the eye of the beholder.

i go thru cars pretty fast. not cuz i beat them or crash them.. but bcuz i just get bored.tc is my 3rd car and im 18... if i can drop my car payment for a year. i can prolly buy a nice fd or something else cash.

Haha, I just turned 22. I've had a used 98 civic, a brand new 2006 tC, a used 2006 xB & a brand new 2008 xB. Atleast i still have half my cars.

3 of those cars were 100% under my name & paid for by myself.

^^haha not everyone is as responsible as u tina! if u buy a hooptie then dont spend any money on it. wats the use if ur guna save up for a down payment. bite the bullet buya car that will be as reliable as possible for a year and put a big down payment for a new car. its like the people that buy cars and just when they have enough equity buy a new one and lowers there payment, just bc it lowers ur payment dosent mean u win. but an old school camry or corolla and deal with it for a year or so and buy the brand new tc when it comes out

If you wanna touge.. you should stick to miata's or 240's. Ive had both purchased through local listings. (craigslist) Iono about your area, but in cali its not too hard to find em near 2k. My 240 was only 800 bucks. a 92 with 180k miles, ran like a champ. I would suggest not worring about the sr20.. My KA was a beast! and my miata was auto so i got rid of it, not much to say. The handling was super sexy thoo.

well, you say your name will be off of the loan meaning mom will be financing it under her name? if thats the case, as tina was saying, have mom get a new car? then you say you want out of the payment but want a new/used car. also wanting to save for a year, what will you be driving till then?

Go with a miata. They're reliable, fun RWD cars that can be had for cheap, and also mod for pretty cheap too. If you can be patient, you can find a great deal with good options. I had one for a while that I picked up for $1500 with a torsion LSD, A/C(they thought it didn't work) CC and power everything. I buffed it out and shined it up, replaced a bit of interior, and recharged the AC and turned around and sold for $2700. Boy let me tell you, I had a hard time letting that thing go!
