View Full Version : So who is turboed already?
homerhitta 01-27-2009, 01:33 AM Alright, I know some of you are turboed already. Just trying to get a feel of who is, and how it was putting everything together. I'll be going turbo sometime in March when i get my bonus, I've already started accruing parts. :)
ShaffNasty 01-27-2009, 05:19 AM "Accruing Parts"... are you an Accountant?
CIONIDE 01-27-2009, 05:49 AM "Accruing Parts"... are you an Accountant?
Nice one! My old man's a CPA, so I probably enjoyed that more than most.
ShaffNasty 01-27-2009, 06:47 PM I am an Accountant so i kind of wonder if people not in the industry use terms like accrue or depreciation...
homerhitta 01-28-2009, 10:13 PM haha, nah, i'm not an accountant but i've taken more than my fair share of accountant classes, so i guess the accountant jargon tends to creep into everyday language.
I guess there's nothing to say about anyone being turboed yet?
i know theres at least 1 person whos already turboed
ShaffNasty 01-29-2009, 12:13 AM Ya the turbo kits for the 2nd gen are not really out there yet... TT makes one but i think it takes a long time to get it... not really sure...
coryjames 02-01-2009, 08:34 PM i am turboed
how many lbs of boost do you run coryjames? how is the overall experience with the turbo? like the car with or without the turbo better
coryjames 02-02-2009, 04:09 AM Go to the fi section look up mile high turbo toyotas its my thread has all your answers
homerhitta 02-03-2009, 12:48 AM yea I knew that you were turboed, but I think your the only one thats already taken that leap.
except rado of course.
tainoxl 02-03-2009, 01:00 AM There are others and some of us who are just still waiting on parts. I bet if there were pnp fuel management solutions more folks would jump on board. I hope to be boosted within the next few months If I get all my stuff.
Beckenbauer 02-03-2009, 03:24 AM pnp harness and im aboard!
homerhitta 02-04-2009, 01:43 AM yea, pnp would be nice. it doesn't look lik its gonna happen in time for me to go turbo.
I know a bunch of you are waiting on turbo toyota since like last june or something crazy.
me and a couple of my friends are just gonna make our own turbo kit. I'm gettin the garret T3/T4 soon from a friend who's rockin an evo now.
theres still a couple things i gotta get so it prolly won't be until late march-ish. we'll see tho
Beckenbauer 02-04-2009, 02:39 AM im goin custom!
homerhitta 02-05-2009, 04:34 AM custom ftw!!!
i just bought the turbo and the turbo timer and i already have the greddy e-manage and pressure sensor
it's all slowly but surely comin together :)
coryjames 02-06-2009, 07:27 PM mine is a custom a custom turbo toyotas lol; as in im the only one with it lol
lastlookcustoms 02-06-2009, 08:26 PM We did a TT kit on a corporate car we built for Scion back in April of 2008.....
homerhitta 02-07-2009, 04:56 AM mine is a custom a custom turbo toyotas lol; as in im the only one with it lol
haha, thats true. i actually reallllllly like the way yours looks. the color of those pipes came out great and i love that you did a frontmount. how did you put your guages?
lastlookcustoms, do you have any pics of that corporate car?? i'd love to see it
coryjames 02-07-2009, 08:10 PM here is the car they built not as pretty as mine for sure but still nice

homerhitta 02-07-2009, 08:44 PM wow also very nice. i like the greddy e-manage. thats what i'll be using.
front mounts ftw, and i love those guages, i think thats what I'm gonna get. theyre expensive though.
coryjames 02-07-2009, 08:59 PM what gauges?
probably the gauges on that car that you posted... the boost gauges and what not. that car is pretty clean! if I had the time and money turbo all the way
coryjames 02-07-2009, 10:07 PM http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=233035
this is mine its not clean at all
Digging the color matched pipes!!!!
sciontc05123 02-07-2009, 11:23 PM Im turbed pushing 5 lbs of boost on an ebay turbo. what an ebay turbo. I got my kit for 1100 on ebay, (godspeed t3t4 turbo) installed it myself and bought the emanage for 700 and had a few little pieces fabrocated and the car tuned for another 700. So i spent 2500 all said and done and i put down 252 to the wheels with an auto trany. My suggestion to you would be to not listen to most of the dumbass kids on line and do some research and not spend 5,000 for a kit. Im not saying just buy any ebay kit but look around and keep it open as an option. good luck to u man

2500, lol, good luck man, just remember you get what you pay for. For 5000 you usually wont need any extra fabrication. I had an ebay kit godspeed to big pos, nothing fit right turbo lasted but wg and bov took a ____(diaphram ripped). With what I spent making stuff fit and work properly I could have got a decent kit and saved my self alot of headaches. As many of us dumb online kids will tell you get what you pay for. You can build a nice kit with quality parts for under 5000 but 2500(with fuel management) good luck.

you sir fail just wait till that turbo goes popo
i spent money on a proven kit with proven parts with great aesthetics mine dosent look like a piece of dung in the engine bay and 252 on 5 pounds through a auto some one is yanking your chain
homerhitta 02-08-2009, 07:39 PM yea cory, you got a damn sweet set up, i love the color matched pipes. it just looks like it belongs in there. If I remember right though, you're not tuned yet right? and your running about 5 lbs of boost?
My plan is to run about 7 lbs until i can get a good boost controller. My cousin has one in his tc that gives him 7 lbs in 1st and 2nd, then it ups it to 10 lbs in 3rd 4th and 5th. so once i get a boost controller i'd like to up the boost just like that to 10. We'll see though. I still gotta get all the other parts first.
PS, ebay turbo + 5 lbs of boost on the t3/t4 + auto tranny is not going to amount to 252 to the wheels.
Again I'll go back to my cousin who was dynoed in his tc at 7 lbs of boost on the t3/t4 making 242 whp.
I don't like to doubt people, but unless you can show numbers that support you're argument sciontc05123 i don't believe you.
Xero187 02-09-2009, 12:29 AM BooST Ur BoX ALREADY!!!
I can't wait to get a ride in the boostboombox!

Thanks for posting the link up. I havent really been looking at the forums. Yea, we unfortunately didnt have time to color match or polish the ic piping due to time constraints on the project. We ordered the TT kit in May and didnt get the parts until October after being told it would be 6 weeks at the max. Then we never got any ic piping, so that all had to be bent up a few days before the car was suppose to be finished. But all in all, it was a nice kit... Car moved out pretty well..
some useful info so far... ebay turbo? umm pass for me personally cause like other people have said, you get what you pay for!! I wanna see some pics of dynoed numbers if anybody has them with turbo
I was working on a tacoma yesterday and he had the local toyota dealer install the TRD supercharger, and I was rather dissappointed... as far as I know (and correct me if Im wronne) it is the same setup for the most part and it added a ton of torch, but not much in the HP. Besides the turbo lag on turbos, why are people doing the factory supercharger instead of turbos?? TURBO FTW IMO!
Beckenbauer 02-18-2009, 05:54 PM People r getting the TRD SC mostly bc it keeps the factory warranty...
^^ya I wanted to know if there was any other advantages to that SC verses the turbos. like I said turbo lag kinda sucks, but the sound of a turbo seems more attractive to me, but the warranty is a huge ordeal for me... just want some opinions on turbo vs factory sc
homerhitta 02-19-2009, 05:18 AM the way i see it, it's a toyota. It doesn't really need a warranty :)
^^thats why I am back with this company after owning a Ranger for two years..... :nails: ! I couldnt agree more
bluesciontc 02-22-2009, 08:28 PM Alright, I'm the guy that's gonna be helping homerhitta with his turbo.
It's coming down to it and he should be buying everything this week.
So here's a couple of questions:
Does anybody have the ECU pinout??
and
Does anybody know if the tc plug and play injectors will fit in the 08 xb?
Thanks guys
tainoxl 02-23-2009, 02:21 AM Have fun, keep us updated.

Please explain the ecu riddle. I need an ecu pin out of the 08 xB. If you got it please share.

coryjames 02-23-2009, 10:54 PM how are you taking care of engine management
Rob_DESCENDANT 02-23-2009, 10:58 PM DESCENDANT Ultimate Scion xB uses a complete MOTEC stand alone system to control the fuel management...
our
DESCENDANT Test mule & R&D Car uses our DESCENDANT "Bolt-On & Go" turbo kit which utilizes the DESCENDANT Harness & AEM F/IC for EZ daily driver ride!
coryjames 02-24-2009, 03:55 AM Whn will the harness be avalible?
xseveredveganx 02-24-2009, 04:12 AM Whn will the harness be avalible?
From another DESCENDANT thread:
For now the only DESCENDANT products that we sell separately from our turbo kit is the s.s. turbo manifold and the intercooler / aluminum piping kits. In the future we do plan on selling the DESCENDANT plug & play Scion wiring harnesses but currently they are only available with the purchase of the full "Bolt-On & Go" Turbo Kit.
:( Dumb.

bluesciontc 03-18-2009, 04:53 AM Well This setup is coming together very nicely. The latest news from us at No Affiliation Racing is that all the parts are on there way or already here. We need to fab up a downpipe that we have a shop in mind to help us out.
Here at No Affiliation Racing I have created and test fitted a front motor mount for the 08 xB. Here are some pics of the mount.

Sorry for the night vision light was limited after install but Figured this would give a pretty good idea on how it works.
After install a test drive was done and a few test launches were conducted (on a non-public road). Wheel hop was eliminated on the Stock for now xB.
I am also developing a rear motor mount as well for extra support.
If any one is interested in these mounts let me know I can make you some. There will be a core charge but when I get your core mount you will get some money back of course.

I dont own a Box I own a 400 WHP Scion tC. If you have seen a blue tC with a huge frot mount thats me. I dont live in Hicksville any more. The motor mount was installed and made for the OP.
coryjames 03-18-2009, 01:01 PM you can just spend 120 bucks and get this beautifull piece

it may be 120 bucksbut it looks nice not like a gheto fx in the end it is worth it made out of polly not some foam or whatever that is
bluesciontc 03-18-2009, 09:03 PM It doesnt matter who will be looking at your mounts??? 120 bucks for one mount is stupid I paid 146 for my front and back on my tC, with the front as a direct replacement. What I have done to this mount is something that I formulated after research I have done, it isnt just foam it is merely a way to keep and seal what is inside. Hate on it if you want it is a innovative way to surcome a problem. This is for his soon to be turboed xB that needs mounts. Mine/His mount is far from a ghetto fix it is a smart solution to an overpriced mount that does the same thing as the one I made.
If any one else is wanting a slightly cheaper and more cost effective way to have motor mounts for there 08 xB let me know. I am going to charge $150 for BOTH FRONT and BACK mounts that will do the same as the $120 dollar single mount. The one viewed in the pic is my prototype the others will be much cleaner and will look moreappelaing to the eye.
coryjames 03-18-2009, 09:15 PM It doesnt matter who will be looking at your mounts??? 120 bucks for one mount is stupid I paid 146 for my front and back on my tC with the front a direct replacement. What I have done on this mount is my secret hate on it if you want. This is for his soon to be turboed xB. Mine/His mount is far from a ghetto fix it is a smart solution to an overpriced mount that does the same thing as the one I made.
no one will be looking u cant see mine its hidden under my masive turbo and the poly will outlast and out perform any day its your car i guess but with so much on the line 120 a cheep price to pay to eliminate wheel hop
bluesciontc 03-18-2009, 09:19 PM 65 bucks is a cheap way to eliminate wheel hop. We (the owner not me) test launched plenty of times last night after install NO WHEEL HOP.
Listen man I am trying to help with mods on the xB and you come on here and bash it I dont know what your beef is with me but persoanlly It doesnt bother me.
Your massive turbo thats sweet, how much power you making with it and what size is it? What type of engine management are you useing?
coryjames 03-18-2009, 09:23 PM Gt30r power right now 260 on 5 pounds and im not bashing i just work construction i hate that foam make a poly nsert for the stock mount and boost will be turned back up after the clutch breaks in
bluesciontc 03-18-2009, 09:26 PM The foam is merely there to seal everything together it is not an integral part of the mount.
What engine management are you running?
I have a Turbo tC that has 400WHP on 14 PSI with my Garrett T3/T4 .60 Trim turbo. Everything done by me I know my way arond this boost sutff.
homerhitta 03-18-2009, 10:43 PM Guys this really is a great piece! I am the one that is testing it out right now. I did a couple clutch dumps at 3,000 rpm and the wheels slid for a second or two, **then limited slip took over ;) but there was NO WHEEL HOP!! Sure this was just on my stock box right now, but I think that's pretty significant considering I used to think someone was throwing boulders at my box whenever I would try to take off hard lol.
And Cory stop hating. You've brought some good ideas to this site, Just because you didn't put it in YOUR car doesn't mean it's a bad piece. Obviously you have money. I'm referencing the completely idiotic stunt you pulled where you "blew your engine on purpose by putting it up to 38 psi" But not everybody has money like you.
This is a cheap piece with a lot of research put into it. If you don't want one, don't buy one. But don't hate on it just because it's not what YOU put in YOUR car.
Blue knows a LOT about this stuff and I obviously trust him enough to put his mounts in my car. Definitely worth the price guys.
coryjames 03-18-2009, 10:51 PM lol im not hating just didnt think the foam was a good idea i would have to see the internal parts of it i guess and 250 bucks is what i got my temp motor for deals are to be had everywhere just got to put some time in looking and im far from rich lol im a 22year old kid and am a hvac journey man i make under 70k a year i suggested he makes a poly insert to press into the stock mount that would be very cheap and help out alot but anyways how are the vibrations mine at idle are so so kinda shakes the dash every one in a while
Zsanz 03-18-2009, 11:43 PM ur in hicksville...have u seen my box...if your box is two tone black on white with a red pin stripe..i haave a feeling we did some closed course racing on 107.

Beckenbauer 03-19-2009, 12:28 AM remember u get what u pay for...im on corys side being that i just helped install motor mounts on my friend travis' tc. and these things will last for sure and they look hella tight
FromTheOld 03-19-2009, 12:32 AM You get what you pay for is a highly overrated phrase. Most of the time it's true, but intelligence and logic can often save you a lot of cash. A good example? Tell me guys, is it worth it to buy a 1000 dollar HKS Metallic Catalytic Converter? The smart answer would be "no".
I'm not on either of the sides in this topic about the engine mount, but some of you guys have to stop being so one-tracked/close minded about everything.
bluesciontc 03-19-2009, 12:32 AM Majority of the money you spend on the other mount isnt for the Polyurathane it is for he cnc machined mount with the nut plates installed. I merely use the stock mount bracket and mod it. It is cheaper and more cost effective. This will last a very long time trust me.
Thank you from the old.
homerhitta 03-19-2009, 12:45 AM lol im not hating just didnt think the foam was a good idea i would have to see the internal parts of it i guess and 250 bucks is what i got my temp motor for deals are to be had everywhere just got to put some time in looking and im far from rich lol im a 22year old kid and am a hvac journey man i make under 70k a year i suggested he makes a poly insert to press into the stock mount that would be very cheap and help out alot but anyways how are the vibrations mine at idle are so so kinda shakes the dash every one in a while
Alright, well thanks for not hating haha.
Anyways the vibrations are definitely there. I can feel it quite a bit when I start the car, but then it kinda dies out as the car is just running. Still noticable though. If i put the ac on while at idle it starts shaking the dash, but I don't even have the rear ones in just yet. I'm interested to see how big a difference that will make.
Zsanz 03-19-2009, 04:03 AM quite interested in how it eliminates wheel hop because my ____ hops terribley.
in for spending 65 for eliminating the pogo stick effect.
bluesciontc 03-19-2009, 10:53 AM quite interested in how it eliminates wheel hop because my poop hops terribley.

I am chargeing 75 a piece for the front and back so that's a grand total of 150 and I require your stock mounts. Everything is core exchange

LMAO guys for real. You told me about this guy. Hard to believe.
If you are pushing the edge of the envelope.... getting more and more power blowing an engine pushing it to its limits has been done before.

bluesciontc 03-28-2009, 12:23 AM The fact about you telling me you were running a stock motor right now and that you sold the built one you had. Also the fuel system modifications you have done are not the only things you have to do to make it E85 Compliant You FAIL.
coryjames 03-28-2009, 12:39 AM i dont knw what i want to do i have a block with a hole through it the motor in my car was bought by me for 250 bucks it was out of a burnt up tc to go to e 85 is simple you need more fuel more injector and a tuner with expirience your more then welcome to call my tuner and talk to him about the process i have no stock fuel line in my car no one walbro 255 in tank feeding a inline 255 -10 and with a -6 an return i am working on a surge tank slash swirl pot but its a little ways out
bluesciontc 03-28-2009, 12:45 AM Yo Learn how to type, I had to read your post like 10 times to understand what your talking about. Also a tC motor wont drop right in on an xB, I know why it wont do you????. I still dont believe you. I know what you need to go E85 thats why I didnt believe you. The E85 thing is a little more believeable now but I am still a skeptic of the rest of what you speak.
coryjames 03-28-2009, 12:49 AM why wont a tc motor drop into a xb? oh thats right it will there is no difference only the timing chain cover we have a different upper motor mount but everything else the same oh and we have a idler pulley where the tc has a power steering pump othere then that jsut the same
bluesciontc 03-28-2009, 12:54 AM Ok ok Your credability is going up a little bit. Thats what I was looking for. So you dont need to be such an ___ Hat.
Also all the mounts are different just to let you know. The inserts might be the same but overal shape they arent, I actually think they bolt a little different as well.
coryjames 03-28-2009, 12:57 AM lol trust me i knew about the timing cover they are a pain to get off and i like no having to deal with a power steering mess
coryjames 03-28-2009, 12:59 AM here is the link to the motor i picked up for 250

rosedaleny806 03-31-2009, 07:00 AM lulz I'm very offtopic
DREWxB08 03-31-2009, 07:20 AM Good luck fitting 255's on the box. I hope you intend on rolling the fenders and running negative camber.
255 are most def not a problem to fit and no rear camber on the xb's so def wont have a problem.. and dont have to roll the fenders either......... already seen 19x10 on the rear of an xB def not a problem!!
Now Back on Topic
Sorry for the thred jack
Im looking into a turbo kit but only company who has a direct bolt on cost $6500 def out of my price range.
coryjames 03-31-2009, 02:34 PM turbo toyotas the only non bolt on part is the fiic its easy to solder in
bluesciontc 03-31-2009, 07:02 PM we all cool NOW!!!!!!!

Wow man, you gotta let me know how that goes!
I'm def gonna need some meatier tires once i'm turboed. right now i'm just running 225's. fail
Homerhitta don't hate on the 225's. Get the right 225 and it will hold all your power your going to make. Plus the price of 255's is much greater than the 225's, youll have to buy new rims 8.5" that means youll have to up to an 18" wheel which also rasies the price of tires(I dont recomend running what I have on my race wheels everyday). Keep the 225's just get stickier ones. With my 225/45/17 Falken RT 615s I had plenty of traction for DD.
Zsanz 03-31-2009, 09:11 PM bfgood kdw2s.

The Invos are ok, and the KDW's are good for rain but arent that sticky.

Both are very similar tires in performance.
coryjames 03-31-2009, 09:49 PM Invos were cheaper and are very quiet and very goodwet and dry
bluesciontc 03-31-2009, 09:53 PM ^^^ I agree Both are great tires. I am a very very very big fan of Nitto.
coryjames 03-31-2009, 09:59 PM me to they are nice tires

coryjames 04-04-2009, 03:08 PM very nice i will suggest on of these tell you alot
http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=153142&start=0
tells timing and all that good stuff
homerhitta 04-04-2009, 04:27 PM interesting, you have one on your car? if so, post some pics i wanna see it in action
I don't know that I would need one, but i/d to have it to turn off the check engine codes i'm sure i'll be throwin once i'm turboed.
coryjames 04-04-2009, 04:33 PM Tells you long term fuel trims all that stuff water temp tons of great stuff most people who are turboed run them and u will throw lots of codes lol my main one is cat ineficiency and maf out of range
bluesciontc 04-05-2009, 01:24 AM The reason your Maf is out of range is because the 5 volt signal is maxed out and you need to switch to speed density or get a bigger maf pipe to allow more air flow and your maf wont trip. Thats why homerhitts has a 3" Maf pipe to allow for the extra air flow.
coryjames 04-05-2009, 04:40 AM my map is clamped so its fine now i throw the cat code every once in a while thats it
bluesciontc 04-05-2009, 11:42 AM Your MAF is clamed your car doesnt have a MAP. got ya.
coryjames 04-05-2009, 04:14 PM lol maf sorry and are you using a anti fouler at all? on your secondary o2?
bluesciontc 04-05-2009, 11:28 PM Negative it doesnt always work I am sure we are going to try it to see if it works. If it doesnt I am going to try something else. On my car I dont run that and I dont get a CEL I love turning codes off.
coryjames 04-06-2009, 12:57 AM i was going to tell you a trick on stock exhaust i saw the code once i got my 3 inch it went away till the other day so i had the weapon r one dindnt work got a cheap straight one it worked cause it had a small hole in the bottom but then it threw one again the other day so i made the hole even smaller by putting a tack weld on it hasnt thrown yet if no block 2 holes on the stock one with jb weld it works too
bluesciontc 04-06-2009, 01:33 AM I know what I am doing. thanks fo the tips tho.
Xero187 04-20-2009, 05:06 AM Alright, I know some of you are turboed already. Just trying to get a feel of who is..??
You are boosted my friend. You are.
bluesciontc 04-20-2009, 05:21 AM 8 PSI is now pumping through your vanes. Enjoy and be safe.
ScionFred 07-08-2009, 05:09 AM i was going to tell you a trick on stock exhaust i saw the code once i got my 3 inch it went away till the other day so i had the weapon r one dindnt work got a cheap straight one it worked cause it had a small hole in the bottom but then it threw one again the other day so i made the hole even smaller by putting a tack weld on it hasnt thrown yet if no block 2 holes on the stock one with jb weld it works too
FWIW, the 304SS angled CEL-elim I bought off ebay for $25 works great since it already has a restricted opening.

tainoxl 07-13-2009, 02:34 AM Alright, I know some of you are turboed already. Just trying to get a feel of who is, and how it was putting everything together. I'll be going turbo sometime in March when i get my bonus, I've already started accruing parts. :)
Over a year later but atleast I can say I finally am;
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t289/tainoxl_album/DSC01483.jpg
homerhitta 07-13-2009, 03:49 AM yay!!! it's about time!
looks good man!
coryjames 07-13-2009, 10:33 AM nice how are my mapys working out for ya? and when did you get your new manifold what pieces did oyu end up doing yourself
tainoxl 07-13-2009, 09:35 PM Hey the map worked for what I needed just to get down the street to the exhaust shop. Won't get my car till tomorrow getting the dp fixed and dumpe tube for my wg. Btw I have not gotten anything from TT, I just gave up on him and all the nonsense. I had to move some stuff around the engine bay but and a different battery to get all to fit but its in there.
Also used a different fitting on the wg vacum so it would clear the valve cover.
As for the Tune I got a cel and it stumbles alot like a vacum leak, shuts off when I decel at any rpm when I let out the clutch. The important part is that it runs and is driveable along as I keep the ac on it will not shutoff. Once I get it back Iwill go over everything and try some tuning. I got a 2hr drive to the tuner so I gotta get this thing running a lil better for that.
coryjames 07-14-2009, 12:04 AM hmmm you could haave drove without a tune to the shop
tainoxl 07-14-2009, 09:58 AM Yeah but better safe than sorry.
Ace83 07-14-2009, 10:32 AM finally you got boosted! i like your white pipes
tainoxl 07-14-2009, 11:06 AM Yeah, pain in the ___ with the fitment issues but I just got tired of waiting. Cant wait to get the car back and go over everything again and off to the tuner on sat if they can squeeze me in. I'll update my thread with pics tonight. So sad that Todds kits look so good but his QC and comunications skills are so poor.
tainoxl 07-14-2009, 10:01 PM Exhaust leak from manifold, warped flange, love it!
coryjames 07-14-2009, 10:09 PM did u use a new gasket? u need to use a new toyota gasket every time you take off that manifold its a crush gasket one time use did u change it i have the same flange as you and i have no leaks so thats prolly the problem
ScionFred 07-15-2009, 12:30 AM Ultra-high-temp copper RTV works. I've re-used my exhaust gasket 3 times now and it doesn't leak. My turbo mani flange is flat but my header flange was a little warped.
tainoxl 07-15-2009, 01:39 AM I'll try for know.but it is a big leak.
ScionFred 07-15-2009, 01:50 AM Have you checked your mani flange with a straight-edge? If so, how far off is it?
As a temporary fix, run a 1/8" bead of hi-temp rtv around each port on both sides of the gasket. Let it sit for about 10-15 mins until tacky. Install gasket, mani and torque it down. Let the RTV cure overnight and it might fix the leak.
Ultimately you should have the flange resurfaced by a machine shop and install a new gasket but the rtv might work temporarily. I was skeptical that RTV could handle the temps until I removed my header and saw that the RTV was still pliable and hadn't burned off, blown out or hardened.
Good luck and congrats on finally getting boosted (no thanks to TT).
coryjames 07-15-2009, 04:13 AM lol i would just get out a file lol never use rtv for exhaust
ScionFred 07-15-2009, 04:26 AM A file is great for small flatness issues. I filed my header and turbo mani flanges. What's wrong with RTV on exhaust? It's O2 sensor safe and works. It may be hard to believe but when I pulled my header after several thousand miles, the RTV was in the same condition as if it had been applied to a valve cover. Probably why so many racers use it instead of a gasket...
tainoxl 07-15-2009, 01:15 PM ALright so the rtv worked for the exhaust leak, but I still having issues just got towed home gotta throw a scanner on to read the code. But she went into limp mode and would not even move.
coryjames 07-15-2009, 02:01 PM Should have kept stock tune till u had the wideband hooked up
tainoxl 07-15-2009, 02:30 PM Its hooked up never threw a cel other than 02 sensor till today, Got it running but just goes rich and dies. I gotta go back to work so I cant mess with it too much. But I,m just going to put in the stock injectors and bypass harness and go from there. I'll scan the code when I get back .
tainoxl 07-15-2009, 02:32 PM I downloaded the log off the Fic but no clue what it means.
ScionFred 07-16-2009, 09:20 AM So what codes did you get? I'm curious about what code caused the limp mode. Sorry but I can't help with the FIC log.
tainoxl 07-16-2009, 09:48 AM P2103 Throttle Actuator motor ckt hi
P2102 Throttle Actuator motor ckt lo
coryjames 07-16-2009, 01:08 PM hmmm i have never gotten thouse
tainoxl 07-16-2009, 11:27 PM Yeah I'm stumped too, runing fine a bit rich. Sad I stayed out of boost just had to make it till friday. I'm not sure gotta trouble shoot a bit more. I just got her running after checking everything including the throttle body and putting it back together. But it started storming and had to go in. will update later

TPS unplugged? Or shorted? That's the only time I've ever seen these codes.
Hope this is that simple.....
tainoxl 07-17-2009, 12:52 PM Seems the charge pipe was to far in and the throttle plate was not able to operate properly.
