So the 08 tC came with these bridgestones on them, today I had the experience of driving it in the snow for the first time. The tires are beyond unsafe I feel in the snow as they lack serious traction. The car has only 16,000 miles on it. It does not like to turn, accelerate, or stop.
Am I the only person experiencing these kind of problems with these tires? The car is great otherwise, just looking into new tires already. I am checking into putting sumitomo HTR+ all seasons on it, also considering stepping up to a 225 just for a lil bit more of a foot print as well though the 235-40-17 seems to be the same overall diameter.

i'd stick with the 225's cuz i ran with sumitomo HTR II and i have had no problem with it yet. my old civic *sold* used to have HTR+ on them and they grip really well but i'm not so sure how they do in the snow.
you want good traction from stock tires? no, that's not going to happen. stock tires are always the worst! the el400's have to be (besides the bridgestone re92) the worst tires on the planet! you're not the only one.
the wider tire you go with, the more you'll have problems in the snow. personally i'd stick with 215, but 225 i'd say ok.. but nothing larger not unless you're going to get dedicated snow tires.
depends on how much $$$ you have to spend. the toyo proxes4 are fair in snow, not excellent, just fair. But in the all-around category they do very well all year round. then there is the bf goodrich super sport a/s, and the goodyear f1 all season. but im still not sure about the kevlar sidewall of the f1 all season.. still wondering on a stock suspension if that kevlar (stiff) wouldn't give a stiff ride. but the traction looks awesome!

i would suggest buying snow tires and putting them on your stock wheels and then get a set of reg. tires with aftermarket wheels. it all depends on if you can dish it out of not though.

So I took her through a development last night and showed her how the car reacts, just more less so she can see how bad it is and to make it known that new tires are needed. She was amazed at how it was in the slushy mess.
