after searching through the forum looking at peoples responses to the TRD lowering springs, im kind of skeptical about them now. i live in CT and the roads here are terrible, but the TRD's STILL look too high. i was thinking about going with the TRD shocks as well as the springs, but i have other investments i would like to put my money in so i was just going to go with the springs.

i have heard awesome things about s-techs and how they give like a perfect drop, but i dont want to void my warranty because its a BRAND new 09'. thats why i was thinking of going with TRD's.

someone, help! haha

you answered your own question. yeah s-techs look better but its a lot more drop. if you are worried about warranty go with trd, if not try h-techs.

Or wait and same for some trd coilovers and keep your warranty and go lower if you want.

x2!! I have them and they are really not that high after they settle. I think it is a great drop. Also the ride quality and handling is great with them.

ride quality perfect height for horrible streets and it looks great, with the TRD shocks it drops down even more like .25 i thnk

go with TRD bro. or if anything tein Htechs.

i'd rather get the Tein H Techs over the TRD's.

I had the same dilemma and finally went with the trds. Yeah, the others give it a nicer drop but i just couldn't stand the thought of driving on those Chicago roads and causing some serious damage.

H-Techs are great. if youve never driven lowered its gonna take a bit of time to get used to. but after there no problem. i never scrape. if you like the lowered look.....after a while you're going to notice the wheel gap in the back with H-techs. not a lot but its starting to get to me....im going for coils

TRDs are great. I had them on my car for a while, they look good and handle well while preserving a decent ride quality. In fact, I've still got them if your interested, feel free to pm me with questions.

TRD is absolutely the way to go.

Note: Mine dropped about 1 inch at first, then it settled out. I would venture to say their "final height" after about 6 months is more like 1.5ish, perhaps as much as 1.75 or 2.

It's PERFECT on 18's. Anything lower would look slammed and ricer-ish, but that's just my opinion.

You must mean perfect drop in relation to the height you want, becuase s techs and even htechs are too low and too soft to be anywhere near perfect for optimal handling. As usual, those springs over lower and under spring. If you care more about looks than handling and like that much drop, then I guess go with those, if you want to be closer to optimal for handling, get the TRDs over anything tein unless they are tein ss-p's (dropped to about 1.4 - 1.5 inches).

This has been researched, discusseed, experienced, tried, etc by many. For the handling side of things, there are some informative threads over on yoursciontc.com under the suspension section.

really? i never knew that. its just that TRD's barely even look like a drop. i know that being the lowest isnt the best thing but i like how the Htechs are just about right compared to the other springs. i want handling and i want looks but i guess ima have to either go one or the other if im getting springs.

In your garage/front yard/friends house, $3 rattle can, some 600 grit sandpaper. Badabing you have black stockers for less than $10.

^ Sure is, I remember it well, but I'm not gonna search for it. The guy did it with his tires on, showed how he taped everything off, etc. There are several threads on the topic, including pros & cons of various paint types, whether to clear coat or not and what types to use...so much info here on the topic for anyone that wants to search.

I hear some people say that, but it is obvious the car is dropped. I have actually had people that dont own tC's ask me what drop I have at the first look.

I think what some dont like is that it doesnt look closer to slammed. IMO slammed doesnt look as good. I like that with the right drop, the cars stance is more aggressive, but the fender cutouts dont look assymetrical with the radius of the wheel. A milder drop looks cleaner to me. But, that is just my opinion on the looks, we all like different things.

But, in the end I would only go a tad lower than what I have, since I care more about the way it handles. I would rather maximize handling than anything.

I agree with engifineer, you defiantly have to see the drop in person. You can tell there is defiant drop when you park next to a stock tC. I would highly suggest getting the TRD rear sway bar with the springs, it eliminates a lot of body roll.

Nope, Tein SS-p will be my next setup when I change. Corner balance and a nice 1.4 inch drop all around :) I will stay with the trd rear bar unless I build the sway setup for the rear I am thinking about building.
