LOL...Oh man!!! I really wish you hadn't shown me that! I live in the northeast (snow) so I'm not going to lower it. I knew it would look better if I did, but I didn't want to sacrifice ride and ground clearance. That does look good though!

The rims look like 5zigen Fighters.DING-DING-DING...We have a winner! Yep, I got the whole package (rims, tires, lug nuts and rings) from discounttiredirect.com for $701 with free shipping. Plus, I just sold my original tires and rims last night for $195, so my entire investment was only $505 for everything. They are 16" X 7" 5Zigen Fighters in Titanium Bronze with Falken Ziex ZE-512 in 205/50R16. I'm real happy with all of it. I agree that it would look even better lowered. But I'm probably not going to do it for the same reason I chose 16s instead of 17s.....lousy PA roads and snow. :(

ahhh falken the copy cat tire company lol they love to copy other brands tread patterns. i love the exact copy of my beloved yoko avs es100's not lol. good tire for the money tho.porbably a really ____ty tire for snow tho. u may wanna be really careful the tread pattern on that tire isnt designed for snow at all. be careful unless u wanna go spinning uncontrollably or just never get traction.

The Falken Ziex ZE-512 that I got were rated #1 by consumer reports and about 8 or 9 people on epinions.com all gave them great reviews. I hope I'm as happy with mine.

am i the only one here that doesnt like the look of those rims? just my opinion, i never liked those types of wheels, but its all good, nice car
as for the drop - i dropped my RS xA with the tein springs, and I live in the worst part of the northeast - upstate NY, where it snows more than the sun shines. I havent had bad experiences, theres still a good amount of clearance even with a drop.... im on 15" blizzak winter tires now (with plain steel wheels), and they help a lot. in spring/summer im on the 17" enkeis

That's cool. I understand. I never thought I would like like anything other than silver or chrome wheels. After seeing lots of other cars with dark rims, they started to grow on me. Once I saw those titanium bronze wheels on my xA, I fell in love with them. Sometimes, the flashy stuff just looks too....flashy.

yeah man, im not bashing on your ride, just giving my opinion on the rims, thats cool how you like them though, thats how it should be, im sure there are people that dont like mine but i do so its all good :-D, i do like the color of your ride, i was contemplating between that and my RS1 before i bought one
matt_a
01-04-2005, 06:06 PM
Thanks. The Phantom Grey was the only color I wanted other than the red you have. If I could've gotten that red without the $2100 worth of other options on the RS, I would have gotten it. I love that red.

get the trd rims
you wont have any problems with snow or the roads
i have a TC with a drop kit and i live on eastern long island and i have no problem in the snow or with scraping
your ride wont be compramised with just springs
if a 350Z can drive in snowy weather, you can

Nice Matt, I'm actually getting the same wheels for my IIP xA
BTW, I live in Boston, MA with Tein S-Tech springs and I didn't really have problems with the 20"of snow we had last week and I also run Khumo summer tires

Thanks. Yeah, I love my rims. It's funny how something like that can make you like the car so much more. Since I've put that tire and wheel package on, I've had a chance to drive in two substantial snows. The Falken Ziex ZE-512s do great. It's no off road 4X4, but they'll be just fine for year-round driving. I was already super impressed with how well they do on dry roads and in the rain, but now I know they're good in the snow too. I'm very happy with my purchase.

So Matt_A.. Do you feel any difference with the wheels on the road such as road noise, rubbing etc... Because I plan to get the same wheels next week, but just wheels with no tires. I might get teh same tires with your good reviews. Finally, Do you think the wheels is worth for the price?
Thanks,

Thanks,I'm a little confused. What size wheels are you getting? Mine are 16" so I had to get new tires (stock are 15"). Are you getting the rims in 15"? Anyhow, yes, I do notice a little difference. It's a good difference. The new tires are quieter and they hold the road better. Plus they are wider than stock, so there's more tire contact with the road. I can tell there's better steering responce and it holds the road better. Not that I'm driving it like a race car or anything, but I can tell. Honestly, if I had only changed the rims and not the tires, I doubt I could feel the difference. But they will look better! Nothing rubs at all. As far as the deal I got, I think I did really well. I only paid $700 for all 4 rims and all 4 tires plus lugnuts and rings. Then I sold my stock set for $195, so I only have $505 invested. I'm real happy with that.
TakumiJr
02-02-2005, 02:51 AM
Heh thats a great deal. Yes I'm getting 16X7 in +42 offset. I guess you got a better deal as I'm getting 4 wheels without tires for $400 shipped and then I have to buy my own tires.
Btw, where did you sell your stocks at? I just got brand new tires for my stock wheels but I dont know if its worth to sell it.
matt_a
02-02-2005, 11:13 AM
All 4 wheels shipped for $400 isn't bad at all. You're getting a good deal too. I sold my stock set on ebay. I see stock Scion tire and wheel sets on there all the time for around $300 and it takes people forever to sell them. I did a "Buy it Now" for $195 plus $70 shipping and sold them in one day. I actually lost $2 on the shipping. Thank God the person who bought them from me was on the east coast. If he had been in California, I would have lost big money on the shipping. I just estimated and got lucky. If you decide to look into the Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires, make sure to check with discounttiredirect.com. That's where I got my whole package. Great people to deal with.

I just think that's such a waste. I bought my nice new car so I could enjoy it. If I drove an old beater for the winter months, I'd be driving the beater for 5 months out of the year. I'd rather enjoy my xA year-round. But, that's just me. To each his own. Good luck either way.

HAHAHA, hell no man. I drive my lowered summer tires through New England weathers and my car has 26K miles and bought it last april. I kinda drive this car too agressively (blown tranny already), so I'm saving for a turbo dsm to fool around with.
