I see 3 major companys offering this....AEM, Injen, and Typhoon.

Yer thoughts on all 3?

I like the Injen and AEM because it has a nice polished look but they also seems to be the more expensive ones at $230.

Can someone explain the major differences in the brands. Like whats better about Injens then the AEM's and vice-versa?

Adding this make my exhaust sound better right?

i would narrow it down to the injen or typhoon leaning more toward the typhoon because i have one on my wrx, i wouldnt have an aem if my life depended on it.

I had another intake first, but when I put the Injen SR on, believe it or not, I FELT a difference. Real throttle response, and good sound...

Once again, INJEN

Oh, and the box included a free "Injen xB" badge. Not a sticker(got those too) but a Badge! It looks cool... I put it where the RS.1 badge would be! :D

I put my Injen xB badge under the hood where the front closes shut. I like the badge.

AEM!! or Injen. It think the Injen looks better though. Wish I got that instead of the AEM but it's still good/

If you are going to do mostly city driving, then the Injen short ram is what you want. If its freeway driving then the Injen cold air intake.

For some reason, I think the "water check valve" on the AEM cold air intake hurts the flow of the air thru the intake. The "valve" is a piece of foam. There has got to be some reducing of pressure thru that.

buy the cheaper one between aem and injen. they're both good. ppl will continue to suggest to you one or the other, but most people cannot tell you why, and the ones who tell you why cannot prove their points.

I like Injen cuz I have both, AND they are made in-house, saw them do it w/ my own two eyes. Plus I got to see some stuff before the public did.

I just dig the sound of the AEM, and that's all. Dunno why. It's just a very cool sound.
Maybe if I was to race I would want something else, but this works for me.

the dealer aem intake is different than what you get from aem.

the non dealer one doesnt bend all around in a loop or have the water check valve

Ah, didn't know that. I was just never a fan of AEM, and had always had good luck w/ Injen.

Whats the big difference from the injen short ram and the injen RD series?

I gather the injen RD is a longer tube thus possibly increasing the percentage of cold air by intaking from a more distant source..... if that the case the RD would be better hands down.. then why would someone suggest the short ram for city driving and the RD for highway.

I usually get a little better gas mileage in the city rather than highway from my stock box, oh and i have a 5-spd.... makes a huge difference.

I was previously sold on the K&N...mostly because I'm a hot rod kinda guy (this is my first import)... but i see most folks are really enjoying their injen's and the cash i save can go towards my springs.

just so ya know k&n filters are used on multitudes of different companies intakes.

I get better mileage in the city as well with my Box then I do on the Highway...and the AEM has helped increase that as well.

Before the AEM, I was getting tween 36 and 40 MPG, now I average more tween 38 and 41.

Not much of a change, but still. Oh, and I drive a 5 spd.

Wow even without the aem you were getting great mileage you sure your calculating that right lol. 38-41 do you only drive downhill?

is an intake worth anything with auto trans?

Wow even without the aem you were getting great mileage you sure your calculating that right lol. 38-41 do you only drive downhill?Yeah,I am calculating right. I take the gas I got, and divide that into the mileage from the ODO, you know, the trip ODO. I always reset when I get gas, and fill all the way up.

I drive in the city, most of the time, and when the pedal is not just hitting the medal, I do drive like an old fart. You know, 4th gear before 40 MPH, that sort of thing. I learned a long time ago, that if you have a five speed, and you drive at 37 MPH in fifth gear, with a 4 CYL, you should get around 65 MPG, however...You will take FOREVER to get where you are going, if, say, you are going on a long highway trip. So I drive in 4th around that speed...And in the city, that's not so bad. If I go over 45, it's in fifth.

On the highway, since it's a Box, it gets worse MPG. A little. Again, I tend to drive the speed limit, well, at least I try to, but it's hard to do that here in SOUTH FLORIDA, where it's not a speed limit, but a speed sugestion.

      That's freakin hilarious. The best mileage possible on an xB is like 36 in Ohio(Flat like a pancake) with a tailwind at a steady 65. If you are getting better than that your calculations are wrong. SORRY
The best CAI is a K&N drop in filter and some new ducting for the stock box to draw air from outside the engine compartment. It's a $60 dollar mod that works just as good as those overpriced CAI's. Mostly those are for underhood bling bling!

Hey.

My caculations are right on the money, ya twit

I live in a freakin' flat state, so you know... And I have been taking the same mother freakin' calculations for over 25 years of driving. You fill the tank all the way. You take the mileage since the last fill up, you divide the gallons, and there you go. It's not rocket science.

I can't help it if I'm getting great mileage in my Box. I use mid grade gas, I go easy on the pedal...____.

Oh, and I have stock sized wheels , and also no extra weight being hauled around.

So do me a favor: Keep yer opinions to yourself.

The K&N Typhoon works fine as well. It can get a little loud if you dump the throttle but other than that it is great.
