What is this about? I do want to trade in my car for a 2009 xb. It said they will like to buy back the car and put me in a new 2009 model toyota car with lower payments and lower apr. I called and set an apointment for tomorrow morning. Basically, the lady said with the way the economy is, we are buying back our cars and giving you a newer model with lower monthly payments and a lower apr. Has anybody gotten this letter? Plus, they gave me a $500 voucher to put as downpayment. Is it worth a shot? Let me know your experiences. Thanks [/quote]

Hmmm, just don't get suckered into a deal for a new car.
Last time I checked, Scions were pure priced and fixed apr... something doesn't sound right.
Remember, tC's still have a high resale value, don't let them try to swindle it from you for cheap just because they're offering you a new car.

No I have gotten that before. It said "We are in desperate need of your 1990 Honda Accord." My dealer that I took it to sent it to me once a year. I had no money at the time so I couldn't do it and I didn't mind since I liked them. But I knew it was BS because my car was worth $3000. But hey the xB might be cheaper on insurance. And you can walk out anytime they can't keep you there.

Dying for business, Im guessing they will "refinance" you into a new car, extending your payments further into the future, where your overall payment will be higher, but less per month because of the extended timeframe.
Dont do it unless your cars falling apart.

I received a similar letter wanting my car as well. Unfortunately for them, my tC and I will never be parted, not even by Death itself.
*Yeah I really like my tC* :P

It's not a scam, simply read between the lines on this one ...
-An xB is at least $1000 less than a tc new
-Putting you in a lower APR is a general statement because they do not know what you have now or your current credit score yet ... apr is related to credit
-The $500 voucher is not free, often they will hold back on the trade value to compensate or simply discount a dealer fee to cover the $500, dealers never lose.
If you got a bad deal originally and you are not upside down on your tC ti could work out. However many owe more than the car is worth and thats already starting off on the wrong foot.
So step one, if they offer less than what you owe, walk away, there is no way to get cheaper payments on a new car carrying negative equity. Otherwise you get a decent deal.. Good luck.

i got that letter too along with others from other cars my family has owned. its their way of making money. i think of the letter as their way of "selling you the car" but treating it like a lease. dont fall for it and buy a new vehicle.

This is very good advice here. Exactly what i was gonna say but better then how i was gonna put it. I am upside down on my tC because of some stupid financial decisions in my late teens. But I got out of a crappy car into a nice one that i want to keep until its paid off and prolly longer. Dont go for the deal if you are upside down.

I get these about my xB every so often.
The first one said "WE'LL PUT YOU IN A 2007 xB FOR LESS THAN YOU'RE PAYING NOW!"
I was like, 2007 xB, huh? :tap:
Fortunately, that was the tipoff that this was all a load of crap. I called just to see what they would say about trying to sell me a car that did not, technically, exist, and they were like "WHAT TIME WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME IN TO SELL YOUR CAR?" And I was like "Screw you people, I was just calling to make fun of you!" o_0
That's when I decided I'd go to another dealership from now on. :tap:
