I am a Scion Champion out of Silver Spring, MD and I want to hold a car show event in College Park. The thing is I need the opinion from you guys if I should do it and a little feedback and ideas for the event. Here's what I have so far:
-Date is either March 29th or April 12th.
-There will be food and live entertainment.
-1st-5th place prizes for car show applicants, and Scion accessories will be awarded to 1st-3rd place winners
-Free to get in and FREE FOOD!!!
-$2.50 Application fee (pure price, lol) for car show contestants.

We are on a strict budget, so if you have any "cost efective" ideas it would realy help!!

Hmm. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Considering your strict budget, is your dealership paying for the lot over at CP or do you have connections there? I know a great place to have a Scion Only car show which has also had multiple shows in the past. PM me if you are interested. Otherwise, CP is still a great place to have a show and good crowd.

Hmm, feedback. Ok, what kind of entertainment is expected? (DJ, gaming stations, dunk booth, etc.) Has your dealership considered collecting cans or other items to give to a charity?

Whatever the case, I wish you well and I might be there.

As far as the event being hel in march it looks like a big possibility. as for entertainment were looking into a DJ and a band or two. but I am also open to any ideas as to a location because the loc. aint set in stone yet. my budget is being choked off Central Atlantic Toyota (CAT)


the dunk tank idea is a pretty good one though.

as far as ideas, how bout a raffle? i know people want scion gear too

oo snap! this gives me 1..2...5.. -3 ..a month to get my xd ready :nails: haha but if theres sum boardwalk fries or funnel cake with some soda then that would be great! lol

You should probably talk to the local car clubs like the Scikotics, tC tuners, Scion Evolution, ect. and see if anyone would be willing to help ya'll out. Plus the local clubs can help get the word out. :)

awsome ideas guys the funnel cake and boardwalk fries are bad though because the food is free and thats expensive, lol. but the raffel is good though and I am also looking into sumo suits for sumo wrestling. so I may look into tieing that into the raffel and making an event out of that too. and to Ghost 1 email me @ shaun.capps@gmail.com with your contact info and I'll get in touch with you on that.

i have a proposition. get together the list of what is going to be in the event, make 1/4 paper cheap copies of it and we'll help give it out to ppl (not all scion owners/car enthusiasts know about SL or car shows).

I do suggest a good raffle prize for both owners and non-owners (like t-shirts, hats, and a few good raffles like lowering springs or wind splitters at a reasonable price per ticket). and for the bigger raffles, dont sell them until you have a clear idea of how many people will be there (if there's not hunderds of people you can sell the tickets for a little more). just trying to make it exciting and help you fix budget costs.

well if it's scion exclusive, then i can run around campus putting flyers on all the scions

bikini car wash sounds good eric... get hooter girls to come over lmao .. as flyer situation goes.. everyone should post up some ideas (affordable of course) and see if we can find common ground between all of them.. from there by the end of the month we should use the ideas most voted by us nd show it to sciondealer19043 and from his approval we'll know what events or ideas stays and goes and by the 1st week of march we have all the accurate details and information to pass out flyers to everyone!

so heres an update guys. UMCP is also holding a tuner carshow at the same time as far if we aggree to hold the event side by side with them we may be able to get this thing off the ground. I'm still waiting on the exact details. when I get em' I'll post them for everyone to see.

another thing if you guys know any bands that are any good give em' my contact info. I'm still working on getting a band out there. Let em' know to get a demo CD together for to hear as well. And yes, they will get paid!

Maybe get a company to come out and do Dyno Runs, maybe offer a discount on them?

well if its gonna be a partner thing then they could be in the flyers and any1 can get a flyer, but specially scions.

and i know a ggreeatt band but its all instrumental. they're awesome tho.

Who's running the UMCP car show? I've been to the official university meets before, ran by College Park Tuning. They were a lot of fun but it was not a judged show, just a pure meet. They did have portable dyno's on hand, music, etc that was nice but no $$ or trophies. Everything from Mustangs to Lotus's showed up, with a lot of 350Z, Chevy's and BMW's in between. It took up three lots next to the Comcast center, with a fair ammount of Scions but people left pretty early.

I checked their site today and there's nothing posted yet on the '09 meet.

Scikotics has a Northern and a Southern chapter in MD, with the SOMD sponsor being Scion of Waldorf and the NOMD one being Scion of Glen Burnie. I can forward you who the champions are there if you're looking for multi-dealer support but I'm not sure how that works out with sales zones and all. From the club, we may be able to do some legwork and promote it on the club site once you have a date selected.

Right now I am still working on a Scion spacific event at the show, but so far thats all th info a I have for now.

ok. now that we have enough information of whats going to be expected to be at the show. let every scion owner know. making flyers for this event will be a big help. :)

I think the tuner show will be next month as it was scheduled and the scion show is held on april 26 if im not mistaken.

Not to rain on your parade, but last I checked, Car Toyz 2 is no more... I loved their shop in Rockville and the crew from that establishment was second to none. I had the shop interested in sponsoring our show back in the day and things were going well until a couple months before the show when it was impossible to reach them... the shop was emptied and boarded, their website is down, there is nearly no more activity in their facebook or myspace pages...

This is just an FYI, so you do not get your hopes up. Our fire department was disappointed that they could not show up.... but life happens.

As far as CP, as Mospeedtc said, CP has a really nice meet. It will be interesting to see how you manage to divy things up. Good luck with everything and I will try to be down there to support you guys

Their shop was cleared out between June-July of 2008. That's when I first saw it cleared out. That is why I would make sure that you have some kind of written agreement... especially with the economy these days. Verbal agreements can fall through the roof. Last thing you want as a host to an event is to say something/someone will be there, when they are not. Trust me. Unfortunately it can happen.
