Default Low-Profile Intercooler

We are in the mix of doing some testing with a different core material. The internal air channel design is BEAUTIFUL and seems to flow quite well. The core we are testing for now is a extruded tube and fine core design and is 100% HAND TIG welded. We will be monitoring charge temps along with pressure loss to see if this will be a viable option to offer as an upgrade to an S1.

The core is identical in dimensions to the existing unit, however it is .5" thinner for better placement behind several fascias including the stock. I will post results shortly along with pics.

Doing some initial testing we have calculated that the new core design's internal flow area is approx 660 CFM compared to the current core we use, which is 616 CFM. 50 more CFM due to some better streamlining is NOT BAD AT ALL!

The area of the charge face of the 2 cores is different as well, 51 1/3" on the new, and 44" on the old.

The heat exchange properties on paper and flow bench lead us to believe the new core will be more efficient. Real world testing should confirm this....Stay tuned!

soo basically its just gonna be thinner? or are you gonna make it where it will cool down the air more?

It will cool the air more as a guess right now due to the internal construction of the core allowing for better flow and heat exchange

This is sort of off-topic, but are you planning on making an intercooler kit for the TRD S/C?

You do know the supercharger is discontinued and will no longer be in production right? Only the dealerships with them on the shelf will still be selling them until the inventory is gone.

Indeed. Trying to offer the community more options and different things than the norm to extend your hard earned dollars.

Yes, but me as well as others have the supercharger already....... I am going to get an intercooler, hence the reason why I asked.

I understand that but with the R&D involved many shops aren't going to invest this time due to the discontinued item, I do realize some people would be interested but in reality a shop would lose money in doing this as the market will still be slim.

This will be a paid upgrade as it looks right now. The current unit performs well, but if we can offer something with a little more power capacity and flow for some more $$, then it would be nice.
